Going up North for some sun over the next 10 days...I am a MFD addict - but ..true confessions..leaving it all behind and taking my M8 and for some old fashioned excitement...my purchased from Woody but not yet used XPan kit Am I mad?

More importantly ..does this mean I get kicked out of the MFD forum?
Thoughts before I choof in 12 hours..appreciated ..dont pull your punches! :ROTFL:

Peter, Traveling with M8 is like traveling with no Camera in terms of weight.....;) So in that respect, why not take MF and leave the rest/MF excuses/etc. to beautiful pictures when you come back:thumbup:

P: My V O T E goes to MF even if you decide to take only one lens unless of course
you are in situation Dress to Impress... than Leica it is:ROTFL:

( re 24 vs 47...note I have not said "I told you so"...)

when I get back my P45+ 'kit' will arrive.. I is happy excited chappy..got all this Hasselblad F/FE lenses to shoot via Hasselblad to Mamiya via adaptor...not to mention `putting David's RZ through the Pete test mill...now checking out lighting alternatives for still life shooting I like..

The 47mm is a little long for me but it was a nice deal when I bought my rig. Trying to decide what to do next. Dedolights are very nice

Take the M8 and two lenses and have fun with it. Leave the Xpan for a later trip, MF for a more serious trip.

It is time for you to shoot with your mint XPan. It has been almost a year since you purchased it from me.

Since you can shoot either panos or normal there is really no down side other than the lenses are slow (but wonderful). If you are going to be shooting a lot of low light then I would go with the M8 (your MF lenses are slow also).

Happy shooting

MF with a wide lens and M8 +2 lenses. Leave the laptop home (but backup to a Gigavu or the like). Whether to bring a tripod is a serious issue: if you're doing landscape often the best light just can't be done handheld.

G'day Jack. Back from the 'deep north' and sitting in my offices surrounded by Blooomberg screens and listening to my screaming traders barking at each other. ( sigh) A very interesting trip which inclued a few days on a dive ship out on barrier reef. Funny I have no interest in underwater photography...

Will post some pics as I process - this was frst fat light chance I have had since purchasing Hasselblad system. I mut say that the M8 and 3 lenses was hardly used - but ( Woody will be pleased to hear) I gave the XPan system a real workout - I just love the XPan's wonderful pano view - so much I am eyeing off a Linhof technorama ( again) I just love these wonderful film world cameras - even though my 'brain' tells me I can crop a shot from our megapixel monsters that is better than anything a flm camera can do - and yes that DOES include Velvia LOL

I took the 39-11 blad and 28 with a 150 and 1.7X convertor with me - remarkable optics, DR and resolving power with MFD that never ceases to amaze me. Will post some shots to show what I mean.

Starting to get into landscape mind set - slowly- from a street shooters perspective - a totally different way of seeing and shooting - which I find very challenging and therefore welcome.

I'm glad you're finally back... The US markets tanked by over 3% while you were gone, but recovered the bulk of that in a single day today upon your return!

:D,

Well the US tax payer is bailing out the two F's - so a minor relief rally and a lot of short covering going on ...quite a way to go before markets are out of teh woods ..still Iam happy posting positive retrns in down markets since January..

funny how profits are privatised and losses are 'socialised'...a couple of BIG BOY banks are about to go under over there ...as well as about 20-30 regionals - so dont get too excited my friend!
