H2F and Phase P40+

I am getting into MFD again after being away from the MF realm for about 9 years and have a limited budget.

I have been doing my research on the available systems and had it narrowed to either the Hasselblad H4 or the Phase One system, and had pretty much decided on the Phase due to the various backs available.

A friend of mine said that he is selling his backup camera and back which is an H2F w/80mm and a Phase P40+ back with just over 8400 captures on it.

The price he is asking is about what a new P30 back would cost me alone, so I would have a little money for an additional lens or two in my budget.

Is it worth it?

Yes that would make a nice pair. Also with Hassy's announcement coming you can take the H2F and upgrade to a new body of the HDX which should have the feature sets of the HD4. Now we are still waiting for that announcement but more important if the 28 mm and 35-90 will be supported on the new body. You can still use your P40+ and C1 for processing, so yes you are good to go.

The H2F is not compatible with third-party backs. Are you sure your friend does not have an H2 that is paired with his P40+?

Yes the pending announcement from Hasselblad will allow you to 'upgrade/trade in' the H2F to an H4x, but from the pricing I have heard it is about $5500 w/ trade in of H2F for the new body...

I have a call in to my friend to ask this specific question. Thanks for this. Being new to the MFD arena and reading so much information I am overwhelmed and confused.

Well did I ever get my information wrong. My friend is selling his H2F set and is also selling (separately) a P40+ back. He said he doesnt use them together.

Okay.... back to square one.
