Lens recommendations for architecture?

I have a Cambo and Schneider 35 and 47. I've been thinking about adding another lens to my kit and the 43 seemed to be an obvious choice - until I started looking at the 60.

At first I dismissed it as being too long, but the capabilities of this lens seem to be compelling, especially when it comes to stitching.

Anyone with more brains then me have an opinion? Thanks.

Well I'm sure I don't have more brains than you! But perhaps I can respond anyway...?


The 47 shot vertically and shifted 10mm will be about the same as the 43, and shifted 18mm will give you about the same view as your 35. So with some minor difficulty you could cover the gap down to your 35 with the 47. The 60 on the other hand gives you options you could only do now by cropping. I vote for the 60.

Also, I think less-wide lenses have a definite place in architecture. Here's an image shot with the rodi 70mm.

but the 60 seems to be a good idea... so is the rodenstock 70 !

By the way, while the 60 can be probably used wide open or so... the rodenstock apo sironar digital 55 used at F11 is a fantastic lens for architecture that can be buy for cheap in second hand !

At F16, the rodenstock apo sironar digital 55 covers 4x5 !

this was one off the main reasons for me to buy an Arca RM3D...

sometimes tilt is important... but helicon focus can ad deph of field also... just more pics to process...
