Thank you for you comments Jorgen, Mal and Pramote. I suspect we all regard Nature as infallible in her sense of design and although this image may appear a bit garish on the screen, I can assure you that in person it was breathtaking in its beauty. A remarkable end-of-summer display - to be followed by months that consist only of shades of gray (grey for some ).

    Fading

Birthday flowers, a week later. The first day the arrangement was spectacular, each ensuing day brought changes. As of this morning they were not so subtle. The edges of the flowers were browning or curling as they dried out, but up close, I found the details compelling.

Leica S2, 120 makro, studio lighting. One strip light overhead and a reflector for the foreground.

It's that time of year again here in Dubai.

    Hartblei HCam, IQ180, Canon 24mm TS-E. 20 seconds, f/16

Fairly heavy crop. I need to find myself a 35mm lens that can shift for this location - the 24 is too wide

You can pick up a Nikon PC at a good price and get a Nik-Can adaptor. They do not have an auto diaphragm however, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

    And at sunset...

    Once again, HCam, 24mm TS-E, IQ180. 4mm of shift.

    For comparison -

    This image on 500px.com

500px / Photo "Burj Khalifa Sunset" by Gerald Donovan

Similar shot taken just over a year ago with the Canon 17mm TS-E on a 5D Mk II:

(lots more trees in the bottom middle-right this year. IIRC, I also applied a graduated filter in Lightroom to brighten up the bottom in the Canon shot)

Gerald, I don't know. With the really bad corner performance with this lens and now the flair washing out the detail in your new image whether you should just get a D800.

That's called multi-coated optics and way cheaper than a UV filter for protection...

(absolutely impossible to keep the damn moisture off the lens in that kind of humidity. I'm actually in the clouds for that shot )

I have the 35 PC lens, as well as the 28MM PC, but I don't know about image circles, just perspective. I had the 24 PC-E as well, but I found it was too wide for my style of shooting, except for interiors. I think you would find the 35PC has a more natural look and feel to it. It is an old design however, no nano-crystal coating or anything like that. It is a shift only, it does not tilt, but I never used the tilt on the 24 PC-E either.

From a hike last week along the West Rim Trail, Zion National Park, Utah. A shot at dawn, multiframe stitch, Pentax 645D, A35mm. Fall colors will be strong in the main canyon very soon and they're at peak or slightly past at the higher elevations in the backcountry.

    Re: Fun with MF images

I got a mail from my camera "agent".
They have made a substantial reduction on a lot of Mamiya prices.
A RZllD here in Sweden now has a price about 2 200 including a 110mm.
I am now tempted, to use a understatement...
Sold all of my RZ stuff last summer to buy the AFDlll camera and a truck load of lenses. AFD is ok, but not the same work of art as my RZ
So the solution is clear: Buying is ok, but selling is always a mistake!

3x 30sec each exposure stitch, using a Hassy SWC/M and the P25+ back.

Looking to imitate my Shenhao 617 digitally. Still need shift and tilt capabilities. The close distance makes it look like a swing lens pano :-)

You need to host your image on another website (flickr, your own site, the getDPI gallery, etc.) and post the link to it in the thread.

Above is the code for the picture below. My website CameraArtist(dot)com is a depository for my internet photos. I made a folder called "forums" and inside that folder is a folder "getdpi" and that is where this photo resides.

Bahr, read carefully your choices for the links if you post your image to the gallery on GetDPI. It is the best and easiest way to do it.
