    Re: Fun with MF images

Norges Fotografforbund (NFF) (professional association) Møre og Romsdal recently had their yearly meeting and competition A great mix of socialising, debate and proff workshops, and of course the competition

The standard is high and the judges your peers... judged anonymously of course...

You have to get 70/100 points or more to even get in the reckoning

    over 70 points: Honorable mention
    over 80 points: Bronze
    over 90 points: Silver
    over 95 points: Gold

    Max 4 pics sent in
I got one silver (91 points) and the years best picture award for the shot below and got two "honorable mentions" both with 76 points for pics I have posted here before , the girl standing on her horse and the one of the yoga pics
The fourth pic didnt make the 70 point cut, but even so my total point score from the three that did was enough to put me in second place in the "Photographer of the year" award Not a bad result I think . Here is the winner pic

    Nathan

This image really ticks the boxes for me.

If I could manage a shot like this I would be very pleased with the result.

    Re: Fun with MF images

    Thanks people!
This time of year we finally get low suns at "normal" hours of day... In the summer it sails high above the fjord and sets behind the mountains on the NNW...at 11pm! in a month the sun will set much earlier and soon after that will set behind the mountains in the SW at 2pm ish making shots like this impossible... Then we have the "lovely" westerly climate cutting down days where you can actually see the sun lol...

Lighting was simple... Profoto white beauty dish and the sun , white balance sett to cloudy. Hardest part (apart from getting the waether I wanted) was getting the clients son to relax... but we got there I think

Very nice indeed! Nice to see something a little different to the lone tree/peak/mountain/mist.

This region is #2 on my bucket list. Antarctica is #1 and that's happening in 2014. Hunan is next. Machu Pichu after that.

How were the crowds btw? I hear stories ...

You have to stay on the mountain in a guest house. Once the park opens the crowds are massive and loud making photography nearly impossible. Interesting place, very photogenic when the conditions are good, frustrating as anything the rest of the time.

Looking forward to seeing some of those Antarctica images!

Speaking of trees in the mist:

Bear Pond from this weekend on Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park. Mt. Desert (pronounced like the verb to desert rather than the noun desert) Island can be seen in the distance.

Stunning mate, Zhangjiajie is an amazing place. The day I went we must have been fairly lucky and with a bit of patience (5-10 mins wait) for the tourists to move on and were able to take time to get our shots. It reminded me of the 3 sisters at the Blue Mountains in Sydney only on a much larger scale.

    Elmar

Although I do not like that image at all , I must agree to what Jack says .

I think , I have a too conventional thinking and a too much technical perception .

I'm sure there are even weirder friends out there, they just happen to be camera shy, and by that I mean you wouldn't want to risk pointing a camera their way.

    Re: Fun with MF images

    thanks for the comments guys!
And, it is great to see the image keeps you talking.

I think photography is all about perception.. You like it, or you don't.
had a great time to shoot this.. (dry ice is funky stuff)

One pic from a place in South Bohemia which I visit in the past as a child... nice to go back there with memories.

Next picture from the same place. When I saw those dramatic clouds, BW was first choice

    Re: Fun with MF images

As this year speeds by, and I look through my Phocus files, I realise that I've taken way too few pix!

Taken with H3DII-31 and old Zeiss 120 macro via CF adapter.

Have a great WE all, and thanks for sharing your inspiring images.
