Apologies for the beardy ugliness on display, but here's a shot of yours truly holding the little one - taken by my partner using 645D and 45-85 at ISO1600.

Ed: Very nice pictures of your son! I´d like to ask how much you did you fix color noise in the picture? When I tried shooting with 645D in the past with ISO>800/1600 it was too noisy, my S2 with the same sensor suffer from high ISO noise too.

    Thanks for the positive feedback!

These files are processed in ACR. I applied a little luminance noise reduction (not much) and left the colour noise reduction alone. Because the key areas of these two shots are quite light, it handled it well. I find the 645D pretty good at high ISO by MF standards... The first shot (on the previous page of this thread) was at ISO800 but I increased it to ISO1600 for the shot on this page because it was darker and because the shot was being taken by my partner and I wanted to give her a little more leeway for camera shake or DoF...

    Re: Fun with MF images

Everyone says how great high ISO is with Sony's new sensors are. But there is no difference in noise at ISO 1600 between the 645D and the RX-1. New sensors are improving in DR, but not noise.

    Re: Fun with MF images

I will be very interested to see what the detail, noise, DR and colour rendering are like on the 645Z compared to the 645D - at high ISO but also at ISO100 and ISO200. The jury is out but we will start to discover the answers pretty soon...

    Will,

That rock seems very unweathered to be on the Maine coast, very angular and not rounded. Is there something unique here?

I am torn about the 645Z, maybe the future is in cameras the size and weight of the A7r with a sensor of 645 size, and maybe the future isn't so far away.

NB: Nonetheless, I likely will get one, but not pre-order this time.

Tom, nothing unique. Just like Otter Cliffs in Acadia, not all rock was eroded by glaciation, although this sedimentary rock is older. And this rock is well above high tide.

Well, something caused the fractures, perhaps just freeze-thaw cycles?

I would say the freeze-thaw cycles split the rocks. But freezing and thawing is not so unique around here. It was 85F yesterday and 65F today...

645D plus 45-85 lens. ISO 100. Three stacked files. Each file used two filters: Lee .9 + .45 ND's.

I´am shooting with A7r too and DR is really amazing. On the other hand noise level over ISO 800 is worse than my D700. But with higher Mpx sensor in A7r files look good at high ISO too due to resampling to lower resolution (web,..). For removing high ISO noise I found DxO Optics Pro 9 much better than LR.

Here are some of my images on local Pentax forum as I was shooting with Pentax K10D in the past and have many friends here:

Just one question about this image Pramote - what is going on with the horizon on the left? Looks like it's higher than in the rest of the image. It's got me curious :-)

Having just shot and processed a bunch of images from last weekend taken with the 35D I'll venture that what you are seeing is the uncorrected pincushion distortion from the lens, especially noticeable if you tilt it up too. A quick touch of the lens distortion filter in C1 Pro with the 35D selected and voila it'll be straightened.

A few hours west of Portland are miles and miles of poplar trees ... really quite a site. I spent a couple of hours there on my way home from shooting in Portland and over on the coast for a couple of days last fall. Just getting around to finishing them.
