    Stop? Please don't.

Some nice imagery Tom. Keep em coming. I've done some Fall Color with a similar motif. Will post some when I get em ready.

I really like this one Bill. The curling blades of grass add a really nice touch. A lot of tannin in that water.

Thanks Graham and Rick. I recently switched from an Epson to a Canon printer and haven't been able to get a print of this I like. This is not a comment on Epson vs. Canon, but rather my experience with the Canon needs some of the effort I had invested in the Epson.

Rick, I look forward to some of your images from the western end of the Great Lakes.

Two from a small cathedral in Dieppe.
Although I am not religious I am always interested in cathedrals, the architecture and often magnificant effort put in it.
It is a real test for highlight recovery. Not the strongest point of this sensor.
Next time I try exposure bracketing in these kind of situations.

    Re: Fun with MF images

Not the photo(s) promised. Will get to those eventually. This is the first photo taken on one of the last evenings of my most recent trip in the Lake Superior region (US). A remarkable light show proceeded for the next 45 minutes. I had done a preliminary hike here earlier in the day, and although the lake was nice, it did not seem special in any way. There was only one small opening in the dense shoreline to obtain unobstructed views. I hesitated even trekking out here, playing yet another Suduko game and an iPad solitaire game or two. I did this with a couple variations and then it started to rain. Rain is good. I was hoping for a rainbow and sure enough it appeared. Then, WOW, Oh my God, a double rainbow all the way. It was very intense and lasted quite long. I was able to do many different compositions and ended up using nearly every lens in my pack. So attached to my Pentax 645D, I started with the DA-25mm, and went back and forth between the A-35mm, FA 45-85mm at different lengths, A-120mm, and FA 200mm. The rain and rainbow(s) came and went, but mostly stayed. As it got closer to sunset, some beautiful light appeared. Besides a variety of single compositions, I managed four and a half panoramics. The half was a two shot vertical stitch that cropped nicely to an 8 x 10 format horizontal. I also managed to use a two stop gradated neutral density filter in a Lee hood on many of the photos. I was able to keep the lenses dry, and for the most part, they all show promise except the 200mm shots which seemed too tight to show the amazing sky. It was an incredible shoot. If I smoked, I think I would have wanted to light up afterwards.

As I get some done I'll post a few. I'll try to be less wordy next time.

My website isn't ready for prime time. Many unfinished aspects to it, but it may be of interest to some of you.

Thanks Tom. I really appreciate the comment. Stained glass would be interesting. I'm never too sure about a lot of the more abstract photos. I'm glad you and others like it. I also have this as a vertical with more tree tops and sky. I didn't think it was quite as strong, but the vertical is a bit more of a mind bender. If I do it I'm titling it something like Lily's in the Sky. The lily pads in the water are blue because they are in shadow. It looks like sky through the trees when presented upside down like this one is. I hope it doesn't wreck things, but with this, the birch trees are reflected in the water. To make them appear upright, I presented this upside down. So sorry.

Here's one from Sugarloaf Cove along Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior. Not sure I thought this through enough. Might use it as is or cropped as a self portrait.

    Re: Fun with MF images

Those are really nice Bill, especially the second one. Where was the first one taken. When I see something like that, I wonder what it might look like from on top at the edge of the cliff. Is that part of the Sibley Peninsula. It's been so long since I've been on the Canadian side of Lake Superior. Is that even Lake Superior? I need to get up there. I think you have more of the "wild" landscapes that I prefer. Lots of wide open spaces to explore and hunt for photos.

Rick, both shots are of the Bruce Peninsula where I live. The panorama is adjacent to Georgian Bay and is part of the Niagara Escarpment in the area of Cabot Head Provincial Nature Reserve. I took the pictures two days ago (Sunday).

I too love Lake Superior and spent a couple of weeks on the northern and eastern shore in September - unfortunately a bit too early for the fall colours. I love the Minesing area as well!

    Cheers,

Thanks Bill. After my post, I kind of thought that it was indeed part of the Niagara Escarpment landscape with the light colored cliffs. Around Lake Superior is mostly the Canadian Shield granites, basalts, and such. Thanks for replying. It's amazing that the colors are still hanging on. I get a bad case of wanderlust when seeing images like that.

    Re: Fun with MF images

Thank you Tom. It is a nice lens in deed, and so small!

    Thank you Antonio!
The Pentax files are very robuust, you can slam them around in PP, so to speak.
It has been stated many times before; you have to watch the highlights, they are easely blown.
Since I have the latest camera profiles, - from Torger on this forum, thanks a lot! - I do prefer the
    Pentax colours.
Details are quiet and clear, much better as the A7r files. Still like the Sony to walk around with, great quality in
a small package. I have to get used to a bit more planning with the Pentax because it is bigger in the hope that my photography
benefits from it. Also you can walk around with it with a small set of lenses or one zoom lens.

Today I received a Pentax 67 165/2.8. Like new and I bought it for peanuts.
It is better suited for portraits but it is not bad either stopped down, F11 I think, for longer distances.

    Re: Fun with MF images

    Morning!

Spent a couple of days up inside the Arctic Circle, not much snow but starting to feel wintery as ice is forming on the rocks at the edge of Lake Torneträsk.

The sun was in the right place to capture the light coming through Lapporten too.

I love the first one Mat. Can't wait to see what you come up with this winter.

    Thanks Rick!

The winter is taking its time this year, getting colder but no snow yet! I'm looking forward to seeing what I can find this year too, my favourite time of the year.

One more, very early, bitterly cold wind and a dodgy walk down to the lake. Waiting for sunrise and the clouds just blew away enough to reveal the first hint of colour.
