Three shots taken on a brief walk along Sixmile Creek below my home. These were just to try out the O-GPS1 attached to my 645z for geotagging images. Worked quite well and reasonably accurate.

    645z with Pentax-A 35mm f/3.5 converted to B&W in SEP2.

    645z with Pentax-FA 75mm f/2.8, two shots stitched

This is a crop from the middle of the frame - about 10% - from the extraordinarily sharp SK 35 mm. XF/IQ380.

Sharp as whisker you might say.....

50+ mph (80+kph) winds from the south flatten Lake Erie.

NB Taken with the Pentax 28-45mm @ 28mm. No lens correction applied; horizon is perfectly straight. It may not be perfectly horizontal, but that's operator error.

Just a trickle at Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca, NY. I quickly discovered how easy it is to blow highlights with the 645z while shooting this scene. Pentax 645z with the Pentax-DFA 645 55mm f/2.8.

Thanks for asking. It turns out there was nothing at all wrong with the XF - it was the IQ380 that was at fault. It's now back in Phase One's hands and I'm using a loaner from my dealer, B3K Digital, who have given me excellent service. I'll update this saga when I find out why the back was only recording black frames!

    Cheers,
    Bill

    Hi Carl:

I remember Buttermilk Falls, my family lived near Ithaca when I was in 3rd-4th grades.
I routinely set the 645Z at -1 or -2 EV for exactly the reason you mention. Recovery of darks is really good, but no leeway with over exposure.

I have been looking at shots I took in the early spring, maybe because winter approaches. Taken in April of this year along the Lake Erie shore; I like the way this image shows the intensity of the sun driving away the last traces of winter ice.

This is a vegetable.... a Celeriac:

Celeriac is a commestible root latin: Apium Graveolens,
Also called turnip-rooted celery or knob celery, is a variety of celery cultivated for its edible roots, hypocotyl, and shoots.

    Re: Fun with MF images

Here's one from this past autumn. It wanted to be square - not a format that I'm as adept at. Still, there are maybe 3 or 4 recent others that work well as a square. This is Lake Agnes in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota. Not too far from here, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area is another Lake Agnes that I've canoed through and camped on several times. It must be a popular name. This image would never had been taken or presented this way in the past because I would not have liked that the background is out of focus. In this case, I think it is right for the image. Also, this had a filmish look to it that I liked, perhaps like an old Ektachrome. I thought that if I started using the dot com logo, it would motivate me to work on my website. It hasn't.

Few more family shots with S2 + Mamiya 150/2.8, sunlight was changing just before hiding in the clouds so light atmosphere on the second picture
    is more pronounced..

Geranium buds. Given that this plant is outside in western NY in late November, it is unlikely they will ever bloom. But maybe.

I intended to use focus stacking with this, but decided to keep the OOF areas. Pentax 645Z, 120 mm macro.

We went to see the sunset but was greeted by snowfall

    Hasselblad 203FE 80/2.8, Portra 400

Sadly, the 203FE suffered a catastrophe soon afterward and it's on its way to Hasselblad NJ for repair. It would appear that my insurance does cover for it, so hopefully I do not need to sell another kidney to have it functional again.

Some shots from last summer. The first is run off from Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone as it flows toward the Gardiner River. The second shows some run off (right side) flowing into the cold water of the Gardiner. People flock here to bathe in the mixture of too cold, too hot and just right water.

Then and now. The first shot was taken in 2011, the second yesterday (XF/380/80mm LS). Last winter's snow finally bought the old house to its knees.
It must once - probably in the 1800's - have been someone's pride and joy.
