I love your work, Ed. You have a certain perspective that's different from most. Your style is very much your own.

    Afternoon!

First Iceland workshop coming to an end and people arriving for the second today, leaving me a little time to look at some shots. Got my friend Oliver photographing from the edge top left.

Got to Godafoss early yesterday to an amazing sky.

As the sun came up we got a nice rainbow through the spray

Sadly, summer is coming to an end here in Maine. It has been a very dry summer, which is making our trees turn earlier. I have not spent enough time out at Acadia National Park where this was taken last weekend.

I believe the announcement is soon enough that waiting might be in order.

    Bob,

The Profoto D2 was announced today. I wonder if that's what your friend heard a rumor of. Maybe not as it is not really related to the B1/B2.

Looks like a nice product though. They have some really flashy marketing material for it. 5 videos following a photographer on 5 different shoots. Very artsy.

Late evening afterglow on the White River and Calico Rock
IQ100 and 35LS single exposure, with 3.5 stops of push in lower half. As often happens with a sRGB conversion for the web from Prophoto, a bit of the colors have lost their brilliance, and the sky has taken on a bit of a red hue. But general effect is still there.

I just called my friend and this is it ... he has given up his battery packed Profotos as these are equivalent to the D7. Definitely studio based.

TTL with Canon, Nikon and soon Sony.

    They do look good.

Lovely shot, nice water for this time of year so I guess you were lucky to be in the path of a hurricane! It's a shame all that great vegetarion at the bottom is gone. Any idea what happened to cause it to disappear? Maybe it got too tall and blocked the view.

    Field of view comparison: Moonrise.

    Leica S(006) with 120/2.5 about 50% cropped.

And Sony A7II, Canon 400/5.6 with 1.4x, also mildly cropped

Once again, choice of equipment depends upon what you want to achieve.

    Afternoon!

Second week of workshops comes to an end tomorrow and it has honestly been an amazing couple of weeks of weather and photography! Took a drive up through the mountains yesterday, would have loved to spend more time here but grabbed a couple of shots.

Really amazing sky behind this old church too, the clouds just opened and lit the the building up perfectly.

Back home to Sweden on Monday!

    Re: Fun with MF images

Colors are beginning to peak here in along the Wasatch Front. Reds by Heber city will be fading rapidly over the next few days, and aspens are turning quickly, some areas great now, others peaking over the next week or so.

This is a 7 shot focus stack using the XF focus stack tool and the IQ3 100 and Live View focusing. I didn't think much of this tool for landscape work with my IQ3 80, but the Live View changes the equation tremendously. Only took about 20 seconds to set up the stack and start shooting it, focusing using wifi/LiveView to my iPhone 6s+. Very cool.

    XF/IQ3 100 with Phase 75-150 lens at 135mm, 0.4 sec at f/9.

    Morning!

Lots of early starts over the last couple of weeks, liked this mountain view with a little snow left over, nice as the sun came up.

    Re: Fun with MF images

One from earlier this year, but finally got around to working it up. 2 part horizontal pano, 35LS, 4 shots, total, 2 near, 2 far, merged in Helicon, then worked up in Photoshop.

Helicon does great for focus stacking, when nothing is moving, thus the this particular bracket was easy for it to merge as the rocks were not moving, The water caused a bit of trouble, but that was easy to fix layering back post. Helicon as all focus stacking programs I tried, can't merge anything moving, so I picked the widest lens I have to keep all the trees in the background in one degree of hyperfocal.

Total push on shadows approached 2.5 stops at ISO100, IQ100 and 35LS

Very nice image. Reminds me of my old darkroom experiments with Kodalith film.
