Re: Fun with MF images - Part 3

Great stuff guys! These shots were taken on the first day of winter here in central park, nyc. 45mm 2.8 AF with my P20+ and a .9 ND filter then added some subtle tones to enhance the mood.

John,
those look good. How you get along with the Rolley-Phase combo compared to the CFV-combo?
I still feel the images in your cfv threads were outstanding - I cant tell why.
Which lenses do you use with the Rollei?
I am very happy with the 40 Schneider and the 80/2.8 Xenotar, but I dont use the 150 Zeiss much. It seems optically fine but dimmer viewfinder, slower lens and more danger caused by shake let me more often use the 80.
I also found that I lately do not like to carry more than 2 lenses with my MF kit-in order to avoid wasting time with switching lenses instead of taking images.
Regards, Tom

Re: Fun with MF images - Part 3

Thought I'd add this image this morning. I just finished downloading CO 4.6 and decided to see what it could do for me.

Making up for my Canon images, here's a couple I shot a while back that I'm just processing now...

Don, do you add your watermark in C1 or somewhere else?
You can turn your signature into a "stamp" in CS and save it, so it is readily available whenever you need it. I even have set up a layer action specifically for my signatures that adds a bevel and drop shadow :)

Re: Fun with MF images - Part 3

tom:

through a variety of exchanges, i ended up with a 40, 110 and 180 plus a 1.4 telextender.

for those giant ships, the 40 isn't wide enough, poo!

the rollei works great and so far the P20 images seem fine...nice to use C1 again.

work has kept me busy, not enough time to shoot much lately.

the rollei is big though, keeps my tripod nicely weighted down

John,
why dont you use a 36x48mm sensor - you could allways crop the square format you have with the P20 but would have a little wider angle for those times you want and you could live with 3:4 ratio
Do you use the 110 a lot? could you post some samples?
I am awaiting my 110 and I am really looking forward to it.
Cheers, Tom

Re: Fun with MF images - Part 3

You found one! Was it very expensive? I look forward to seeing some portraits!
Carsten,
I better wont comment on the price. I hope it is worth the money.
Anyways, overall I have adapted to the Hy6 and the slower way of working with MF and I am quite happy. The DR, tonality and the detail is great.
Cheers, Tom

Re: Fun with MF images - Part 3

Weird. I think this may be my first contribution of actual IMAGES to this forum.

Phase One P30+ on Phase One 645 AFD III
Body Cap modified to include Pinhole lens
Processed in Capture One 4.6
Doug:

I made one of these too, and it works pretty well

However, I am still trying to wrap my arms around the concept of *why* we shoot pinhole on a high-resolution digital sensor! :ROTFL:

Anyway, here's mine, but via the P45+ -- I estimate the aperture is about f200:

Jack,

And we complain about back focusing lens on the M8. It does make one wonder.

Good point Bob!

And I think Doug's pinhole is sharper than mine :(

Ha! My next project is going to be ripping a lens out of a Holga and get it mounted up at the right distance for the Mamy :D
