Photo Pills and Medium Format

Does anyone use the Photo Pills App for calculations? I have a question on the DOF calculator on the app. When you are using it for DOF with the IQ180 and you put in the focal length, does it compensate for the Focal Length of the IQ180 or does it expect you to put in the 35mm lens equivalent Focal Length?

Thanks,
Mark

i dont know the app, but...

shouldn't it be easy to compare the results for different bodys combined with the same focal lengths? you should know whats going on, if the calculated results for different bodys are the same, or not the same.

You should be using the actual focal length. The key value that determines acceptable DoF as far as PhotoPils is concerned is the Circle of Confusion number that is determined really by your image sensor (and output size/viewing distance). PhotoPils seems to use a very generous CoC by default of an IQ180 unless you set the visual acuity to 20:20 vision in which case you'll be closer to pixel peeping acceptable values.

This is where these discussions go down the rat hole of acceptable DoF is determined by print size & viewing distance etc etc ... (And Photopils does include this btw).
