Smart Flex L Plate

I have the v1 for the DF+ and it works well with no play. It rotates around the lens center which is really handy.
one thing to watch for with the v1 at least is that you have to be vigilant about ensuring that the back/forth slide knob is tight AND the lock across the end of the rail is in the correct position otherwise the body can slide out of the L bracket. It's obvious to see that the end lock is in the correct position by sight but not by feel. How do I know? :facesmack: Luckily I caught it.
i found the lock knobs a little small to get good tension but that might just be due to the size of my fingers.
Construction quality is excellent but it definitely is bigger than the RRS L bracket. I don't know if it fits the XF or not.
one other thing I ran into was that I sometimes had to reverse the base plate when using lenses with larger barrels such as the 240LS because it would interfere. (you cannot remove the MFDB if the mount is reversed though vs forward under the lens). Maybe the new one has resolved this.

Make a request to Dave Gallagher to bring a Smart Flex L Plate out to CI in Carmel in February. Try the RRS L-plate and compare which you like best on your XF

I got to try one out which was an earlier version years ago. Ended up returning it as I didn't like it much. Don't remember all the details however I do remember thinking I could do the same basic thing (change orientation) with my RRR L bracket and also had issues with the mounting system at the time. just my 2cents worth.
Do what Ken suggested and ask Dave to pack one with him in Feb and give it a try.

Having watched the video on the bracket, if Dave brings the bracket out to the next gathering I'll more than likely purchase one. The bracket seems to eliminate more gear that would be necessary to shoot pano's. And you probably thought I said "porno's" but I didn't! Hahaha!
