Very impressive, Steen. They look so clear and sharp. How on earth do you get them to sit in front of your lens like that?

they follow me everywhere
50,000,000 fans can't be wrong :lecture:
maybe I'm a fly whisperer
well, they were sitting on the banister of our balcony, warming up before take off I guess
and the weather was really strange, very warm and humid, with a thunderstorm arriving
maybe their alarm system didn't work under those conditions
don't know why they seemed to trust me ...

same fly, same tree... a few seconds later.

here's the full resolution :

Seems that jpeg reduction and compression means a lot of lost highlights details and shades of yellow/green plus significant amount of texture noise.
Not awful, but looking a bit like weird exposed in the end. Too bad.
I just hate jpeg.

Great fly shots, Corlan
What camera / lens combination did you use for these ?
Oh, and welcome aboard :)

Many thanks Bondo :)

D700 + 105VR, so i cannot get as "close" as you with 100mm + D300 due to FF. Well theorically the 105 allows 1:1 when the Zeiss is just 1:2 but practically with moving subject one can't really take advantage -and the more handheld.

I've posted some more (no flies, though) with this combination in the Fun section.

I really like the Rose petals Bondo. Very nice.

Alas, tonight I find myself suffering from of a bad combination of Bourbon, a lensbaby with mag lens, an SB-800 flash equipped with a white-athletic-sock diffuser, and a dead Peony. Forgive me.
