    re: Fun with Nikon Images

Giving away the exposure values would give away secret info. Lol. But they were shot at equivalent exposures. Say, if one were 1/125 at f5.6 the other is 1/250 at f/4.0 (not actual figures obvsly).

I can't pick which I prefer either. One has an older look because of the flare (which is probably also opening the shadows, causing a seemingly higher exposure)...the other more modern with zero flare. Oops, another clue.

Thanks for playing along with the shenanigans fellas. Haha

I prefer the shot on the left, I think I like that more is in focus, and the flare does, as you point out, gives it an older look. Just my $.02 worth.

Not a Leica MF, but a couple of new Ms and at least one 50/2.

Beautifully captured. Clearly a fragrance I'll have to enjoy from your description. Not in my budget!!

Yes, indeed! Actually, I have a number of reasons to visit Sweden. One of our best friends here is from Sweden, and has be threatening to take us for some time. The only problem the past couple of years (and this one) is that the time we'd like to be there, her parents come here for 6 to 8 weeks. Maybe next year. We'd like to go and do a trip on the canal.

We are getting closer, however. We're off to Iceland in June.

Rayyan: Thanks a lot for that information: soothing to know that there are still other great options to invest big money besides all that tempting new photographic gear.
And also a nice capture BTW.

Great photo, Mikael. It would be very interesting to learn what lens and aperture you used for this one.

This is what photography is all about

I also have to admit that I wouldn't be able to change between colour and b&w that was with my F6

alright...time to kill the suspense. haha.

image on the left is the nikon 28-70/2.8, 56mm @ f/2.8. image on the right is the nikon 85/1.4G wide open.

i'm truly AMAZED at how flare resistant the 85 is, thanks to the nano coating i imagine.

i'm still not sure which i like better...i keep going back and forth. i love both the vintage look of the older lens, and the clean crispness of the newer lens.

if i managed to take a similar shot with the fuji and leica, i'll post them up for comparison once they're back from the lab.

Lloyd: Thanks a lot for the feedback! I hope recovery from your knee surgery (and your former problems with your elbow?) will soon attain a major step forward so that you can catch up on all the outdoor activities you like (besides photography of course )! Crazy as it sounds, especially when I'm sitting on my racing cycle, "fighting with the storm", I often have to think of your actual misfortune.

Thank you Hermann. The elbow is still recovering; I have two torn ligaments, which have improved, but still have a way to go. Unfortunately, it appears that I will have a permanent loss of range of movement in both flexed and extended positions. I don't notice it much anymore, and there's nothing I can do about it anyway. The knee is doing well. Very little discomfort now, one week after surgery. The doctor thinks I'll be back to full activity within three to four more weeks. Thanks again for your interest and concern. And I'm glad I can be of some inspiration... even as a bad example.

Lloyd: Thanks for the further annotation! But: "bad example"??? No way. It's only empathy (even we, though athletes, are all getting older, but hey, that's trivial) and first and foremost admiration, since I'm absolutely positive, that you will bite through this little "loss of form" and will come back. Crossing fingers, that this will be very soon!

Thanks Lloyd, I am only a rookie using the fisheye. However, I do believe it would be a very useful magic..!

    Re: Fun with D800 Photos

    Awesome images by everyone.

It makes me yearn for my D800 which is probably still somewhere on the assembly line awaiting completion. 9 weeks and counting.

17 May is the Norwegian National Day, and it was celebrated in Bangkok as well. We even had Norwegian weather: Rain all day

    D2Xs with 80-200 AF-S @ 200mm and f/2.8

    D2Xs with 80-200 AF-S @ 175mm and f/2.8

    D2Xs with 80-200 AF-S @ 80mm and f/2.8

This was the first time I used the D2Xs for anything other than motor racing, and I like it a lot. Colours etc. exactly to my taste. I predict a lasting love affair.

Very nice set, Jorgen. And the color is excellent. Loved my D2x for that reason as well. And Happy Norwegian National Day.
