    Neat idea, Tashley.

Question: what is the 24-70mm like on the D800E?

Pretty damned good but not at 24mm which really needs f8 if you want tight edges. But it is waaaay better than the 24-120 and is my general go to..

I almost forgot to abide by the (Unwritten) ByLaws of GetDPI: "You must post a cat picture with your new camera in order to make it yours."

Decided to challenge myself with the newest member of the family (who had gone to the vet earlier this week):

    Morning!

I'm back in Sweden after my great Iceland trip, loads of images to work through but early yesterday the light looked great so I popped down to the local river for sunrise, great autumn colours rapidly changing the forest.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Nikon must be working on something better than the D800/E. Pixels, arrays, filters in front or behind, megapixels..how many?..good for gear heads; I just want to take photographs.

Smile, I said. She became all shy. I clicked.

Of course, the D800 might be better. I just want to capture the moment, with what I have.

Trying out some studio shots with my Nikon D90 and 200/4 AIS + 26mm extension tube:

2-light setup, 12 component images of 4 seconds each at f/16, assembled and edited in Photoshop.

Was the clock stopped? That would've wreaked havoc with the amount of time the shots took.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Yes, the clock was indeed stopped; when running the weights below the face of the clock are turning, which would also have presented a problem.

I do want to do some long exposures of clocks, but due to the changing image of the subject, a panorama (and so, a high-resolution image/print, with my equipment) is out of the question.

Total time to capture the exposures for that image was just over five minutes.

This is Bethany Bosch a professional swimmer from the U.S. getting ready for her English Channel crossing. Winds were really strong and we actually had lights standing in 4 feet of water with sandbags, I of course, wore waders... D800/85 1.4

I will post images soon. Part of the training is to acclimate to cold water, and "channel rules" don't allow anything but a swimsuit.

    Evening!

Thanks for everyone who's liking my pictures, very nice of you!

Here's a shot from the lava fields in Iceland, this area is so stunning! The moss on the old lava is an incredible colour, one of my favorite parts of the island.

Ignore any exif data, for some reason Photoshop is changing it when I add a border, this is shot with the Zeiss 135 f2

I agree, great bokeh but what stands out is the processing, the look of the image is amazing!

I also think the portrait above by RYC is fantastic too, I might unlike it so I can like it again!

    Evening!

Here's a shot with the 85 f1.8g, I was looking forward to using this lens as the 50 1.8 is a fantastic lens for the money, the 85 I found to be bloody awful! Obviously just the conditions I was using it in but for general shooting in daylight it was harsh and just lacked any character, to my eyes anyway. This was about the only shot I liked from it.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

A few more from my Calgary roadtrip in July (need to work on my turn-over time!)

In the Chilliwack Forest District; this reminded me slightly of Half Dome in Yosemite.
    43-image panorama (172MP) with Nikon D90 and 200/4 AIS.
First shot I can print at 40X60" at 300dpi!

    Pretty sky over Calgary.
Single image with Nikon D90 and 50/1.8D.

    Near the Drumheller Hoodoos.
    42-image panorama (153MP) with Nikon D90 and 200/4 AIS.
I'd like to do this one in B&W as well, but I'm not getting exactly what I want for this shot with Photoshop. Incentive to get Silver FX, I suppose.

    Hello S !

It is a very underexposed ISO 800 shoot with the D700 @ f1.2. On the original you almost can't see the subject. When I push expo slider by +3 or +4, the grain pop up (I love the grain of this Renesas sensor, pretty unique). Then I switch to monochrome and manage contrasts
