Agreed, very nice Alan, I've been playing with the Zeiss 21 a bit recently and it's a fantastic lens.

Superb Pramote, I'd love to photograph active lava, the old stuff on Iceland was incredible to look at.

    Evening!

Lots of nice landscapes, by way of contrast, here's a nice Icelandic Horse chewing a bit of grass! The Zeiss 135 was fantastic on these animals, I managed a very high rate of keepers with focus on the eye, surprised myself!

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

viablex1 that's a cool IR shot, never done any myself so excuse my ignorance, is that taken with a converted camera or just a filter? I love the trees and river, I'd probably have cropped the sky out, for me it doesn't add to the beauty of the landscape itself. I feel like giving it a go!

Which IR conversion did you get? I have a D40x laying about that may see new life as an IR camera.

Hey, thanks for your kind words, unfortunately I can't really take much credit, I just pointed the camera and set it for 30 seconds, it did the rest! There's no real post processing to this except border and watermark stuff.

I hope you get the chance to head North at some point and see the lights for yourself, they are truly amazing when in full flow, this is not impressive at all but I was excited to capture it anyway!

I have to agree Hulyss, much better!

Not having anyone beautiful at hand, I had to settle for some more Northern Lights, really incredible display here last night, best I've seen here.

I've not really got the whole processing thing down yet for aurora, need to work on it a bit.

Here's another, to be honest I only took a handful, then just watched it as it was fascinating and far more intense than any I've seen here before.

Cheers guys, indeed it is always a privilege to see, the Southern Lights when I worked in the Antarctic were unbelievable, these were close! I don't know why but even though I've seen them many times, I still get all excited when I look out the window and can see the conditions looking right.

It was an unsuspected place. I didn't have much expectation for this place but stopped by because we had time to kill on the way from Kona to Volcano Nat'l Park. It turned out the land-/seascape was spectacular. Luckily, I was in a right place at a right time.

My Tamron SP 24-70mm Di VC USD arrived yesterday. Managed a couple of quick snaps today with the polarizing filter on it. Crummy weather of the last week has yielded some great cloud formations. Tweaked with Topaz Adjust.

D800e Nikon 14~24mm lens at 14mm. ISO 400, 1/800 sec at f13, monopod. Color version and B&W version done in Silver Efex Pro. Any preference?

I prefer the B&W version. I found the color version a little over the top for my taste (but that's just me - YMMV)

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

I've taught photography to middle schoolers and getting them to creatively critique their classmates' work is part of my curriculum.

"If you find something you don't like about a photo, say what it is as objectively as possible AND what you would have done differently."

I seriously found the B&W version visually striking and much more appealing than the color version where I found the colors to be a distraction.
