Ceh, you have to straighten the verticals of the back wall, particularly the ones in the corners, to make the perspective right. I use Edit/Transform/Warp for this. Work in a separate layer and use grid to maintain control. It's possible to use Edit/Transform/Perspective also, but in this case, the verticals are pointing in several different directions, so it might not work properly.
    I don't care what gear I have.

I bought a D7100 and 60mm Micro-Nikkor recently. Nice Fall weather here today, so I took a walk to test the new gear. These shots were handheld. So far, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Hi Ben, glad you're liking the D7100 - it has pretty impressive IQ in a small package.

Curious to see what an FX version of this sensor will be like.

    Morning!

Spent a couple of hours in the garden this morning, well, it's not really a garden, more just a forest!

I just love the combination of D800 and Zeiss 135 f2, this is the first time I think I can ever remember feeling that the kit I'm using puts across exactly what I see in my mind a shot should be like, anything I don't like is purely down to me. Both shots wide open.

I was prepared to be a little disappointed with IQ of the D7100, as I was with my Canon 7D, but so far so good.

After trading my D800e in for the Pentax 645D, I was left with two 12 megapixel Nikon DSLRs (D2X and 700D...both excellent cameras). I didn't really need 36mp, but something in the 20mp range would have been nice to have, hence the D7100. For $1150, it's a bargain.

Here's another image from that same photo walk. I definitely like the 60mm Micro-Nikkor.

The D7100/60 Micro does a pretty good job on B&W too. These two trucks are frequent "test subjects" for me. I don't think they've moved from this spot in well over 5 years.

You have to get it Hulyss, it's amazing! The combination of being incredibly sharp wide open plus the bokeh which is just wonderful, makes it a very special lens. I've not enjoyed using a camera so much since I bought the Alpa. In your hands I've no doubt the results would be stunning.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Ok guys ... I just gave up my 180/2.8 so I think I will go to this lens (actually I don't think ... I want it !!). The 180 was good but too long for portrait work. This zeiss is just ... yummy !!! If the Nikon DF is useful enough it might be a good combo in + of my D700. Nikon DF + Zeiss glass only all the way.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

I have the Canon 135mm f2L lens and it is superb....so I can only imagine how good the Zeiss must be.

I'm close to buying a Zeiss ZF.2 100mm f2 Makro Planar from a friend. It would be my first Zeiss lens for the Nikon.

    Ming Thein's review:

Wish I still had the D800e.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

My wife found this great old trail by our cabin, so we went for a walk and I took my D800 with 50/1.2 lens. All of these shots are taken with that lens wide open, hand-held -- focusing is surprisingly easy for me with the stock Nikon screen. Also, these are processed pretty much as shot in C1 then sized and converted for web view in CS. There are a few slight levels tweaks on the very high contrast images, but no other after magic -- note that I did not add any vignetting, left it zeroed through all of these frames so you are seeing the actual lens character.

And of course there is nothing spectacular here, just some fun images showing the character of this lens -- and yes, I LOVE the way it renders! Perfect optical performance may be over-rated

    First some closer views:

And a center crop from that one for reference:

And now a few from further out. On these, I am reminded of how an older classic lens renders on large format -- and I do like the look. Again, these are at f1.2:

Here's one to show the foreground bokeh a little better:

And a center crop from that one so you see how it renders at distance:

(Note, I think I'll copy this post over to the which 50 thread too.)

D 800. Borrow a 20mm 2.8 and find out it's got sticky diaphragm blades so even when set at f/8 it was really wide open. Sent for repair.

    Evening!

Nice shot Hulyss, were you abducted?? Did they run any experiments? Any probing??? You can tell us, you're amongst friends!

I didn't see anyone beautiful today, instead I met up with some locals who showed me some nice tracks down by the river. Sweden at this time of the year is stunning, this far North the sun stays low and has this real amber quality to it, makes everything a rich yellow colour.

Anyway, here's a shot of the river and a track through the forest, I need to work on controlling flare a bit better but I didn't mind it in these shots, some others i took didn't work so well.

Another, my issue is that the green is so bright that it reflects off the snow/foreground which then doesn't feel natural, although it is, it doesn't feel it when I look at the image.

Nice and clear these. How does it look if you de-saturate/neutralize the colour of the snow?

    Can a Zeiss ZF.2 100mm Makro-Planar top this one?

If not, I just wasted a few $$$$.

People say that the Zeiss glass has a "3D" look. To my eyes, parts of this particular Micro-Nikkor image have that 3D look too.

    Morning!

I had another go at the aurora shots, this feels slightly better, less heavy handed with the blacks for sure, still not quite got the colour balance right but closer.

One more, I just took this on the way to the shop, it's just the reflection from the trees in the river, I really like the effect of filling the frame completely with the reflection, I flipped it 180 to get it the right way up.
