    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

A week ago a friend and I took a trip to Yosemite to photograph the Red Buds and Poppies along the Merced river just outside of Yosemite. They didn't look all that great but to our surprise snow was forecast for the Yosemite valley. There was fresh snow each morning on April 1st and 2nd. This image was taken on the 2nd, it had snowed ~4 to 6" during the night.

    "City in a Fog"

Photo of Albany, New York - taken early morning 4/12. As I was on my way out to the Catskill Mountains with my camera, I saw this in my rear-view mirror and had to get off the interstate to take a shot of it. There IS an entire city under all of that!

    Photo was taken with a Nikon D3200 and a 10-20mm Sigma lens @ 20mm.

    On the satirical side, as Albany is the capital of New York, I was half tempted to title the photo;

    Afternoon

I trust everyone has had a good Easter break!

Here's a quick shot from this morning, snow is melting and it's feeling like spring has arrived in the forest. I'm afraid it looks over processed in this small jpeg, it's actually a 4 shot stitch and looks very nice at normal size.

    Good Morning Brisbane

Trying out a D800E in the early morning on the Brisbane river. Unfortunately just as I set up a breeze upset the water. I stayed anyway to try out a pano HDR. It's not perfect but it's good to practice.
I didn't really like the camera, I think I will stick to my D3x. I will come back here and try and get that reflection.

Thanks LLoyd IR is tricky it is really all about light but I'll be damned if I actually understand the best conditions, I shot the same tree in different light and nothing came out. Plus the glow of IR film cant simply be replicated by guassian blur etc lots of processing

But was it taken with a camera made lovingly with sanding and milling and hand polishing?, asked the voice. For 45 minutes, it added proudly.

In the 21st century, I asked!!

Is it really the 21st century?, asked the voiced; perplexed.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Has not been a nice spring here. When we get some sun, it seems we soon lose it and we get more rain. Today (Mother's Day in USA) was a nice day here on LBI (Long Beach Island, NJ). D800E 24~70 f2.8 Tamron VC.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Further experimentation with long exposure photography in daylight:

    Nikon D90 + Nikon 50/1.8D at f/16, 100sec
9 images stitched from stacked exposures of 20-30 seconds each (different exposures for sky and water).
Total duration to capture this image: 25 minutes.
Stitched in Photoshop CS2 and processed in Photoshop and Silver FX.

This bridge is currently undergoing deconstruction/reconstruction in its new form, which can be seen by the cranes in the background (one moving and one stationary).

    Nikon D90 + Tokina 11-16/2.8, 14mm at f/8, 120sec
4 images stitched from 4 stacked exposures of 30sec each.
Stitched in Photoshop CS2 and processed in Photoshop and Silver FX.

This one was taken as the light was beginning to fade, so it's not a true daylight exposure, but I'm quite happy with the result anyways.
