Hey. Had some work to do recently, so there was not that much time for the usual fun stuff.

    This time, something different:

A small roll of transparent tape. Easy to remove in PS due to the round shape.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Just returned from a four day mountain bike trip to Canyonlands National Park. We rode The White Rim (~100). My third time doing this, and my first with decent camera gear. I took advantage of the lack of light pollution to do some night shots. Here are some examples:

    All taken with the D3s, 14-24/2.8, 20 seconds @f2.8, ISO 2500

First night's camp. Light on the tents, about 2-3 secs with my headlamp

Last night, my camp at Potato Bottom, along the Green River. Light on the foreground from a gas camp lantern off to the right.

The group at Potato Bottom, about and hour after the previous image. Blurry faces from the long exposure; light on the foreground from very dim bed light of a pick up truck to the left.

I didn't think I'd shoot today in such fog but I was inspired by a recent shot of Graham's and took the above.

yes, you're probably right, Alex, it adds to the artistic nerve in a scenery if you have sort of an Alligator in the corner of your photograph .-)

some say you can even do with a Chihuahua if you have no Alligator at hand: http://www.getdpi.com/forum/leica/11...tml#post148815

I saw a movie once, must have been during the seventies or thereabouts, named Elektra after the old Greek myth. The whole, rather long, movie was done in something like five or seven takes, and in the end, a large, orange Sikorsky helicopter enters the scene.

Your helicopter is perfectly positioned, Alex, but original, it is not
    I don't care what gear I have.

What is that?, asked my youngest son. What do you think?
    Lightning connector, he said.

No light and shade/s, I said.

Mom really needs to get back soon, he murmured as he walked away shaking his head.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

The Df went to work. Boring images, but hey, I have to make sure it earns its keep..

I had to go into the house store room, move heavy luggage to find out where my old Ais lenses were discarded by my wife.

I found one..a dog of a lens at that. The notoriously unloved 85/2 Ais. But it is small, superb focussing ring, high contrast, and sharp stopped down.

But how would it perform on the Df..could I use it or it goes back in the dump? The jury is still out. Now if I could find my 50/1.2 Ais; I shall keep on looking.

jpg, sooc with mono setting, some 100% crop, no pp...

Known for the most atrocious oof rendering, this one has languished in the shadows of its better known cousins.

I got this one cheap in Tokyo in the early 70s, along with a Nikon Photomic..

    Maybe I could return it and get a Noct-Nikkor, as a trade-in

I was half expecting that I might need af fine tune. But no. Worked first time.
Lovely lens, heavy as a brick, though.

Hi there Mikal. Glad to see you. And thanks a lot pal.

Back..well back you know when; we had three Nikon primes we called the Holy Trinity.

I realized I have posted images with 2 of them..28/1.4 and the 85/1.4.

And I further realized that I had not taken one of my other meds..so without further ado, the third of the Trinity..a lens which has been my workhorse for ages,
and I still cherish it. And of course, one of my other vices nowadays..

    BTW, all images at f/1.4

    The 50/1.4 D...

    Cropped image..

It was rainy and overcast most of that day. But work is work.
I parked the car. Wrapped myself in the throwaway plastic rain cover.

I babied my D700 and the zf 35/2, protecting them from the rain and shot this
    view.

Driving for another 15 minutes, the sun came up..only few drops of rain, nothing to worry the cam about. Parked the car and another click...

Hi there friends. Awesome, thank you all so much for stopping by.

Yes Jorgen, this was taken in Indonesia. Bali rice fields.

I hear the rice fields, ethnic minority villages and the scenery around Yunnan, China is way better than found in Bali.

Now what is the best time to visit..Nov or Feb?

    Best to you.
