Lloyd, my friend, thank you. Yes it was, shall we say, a difficult and different experience for me. I would not do it alone next time. 95% of the time it was rainy, sloshing through mud and trekking slippery slopes.

My regret..that I could not get through the cloud cover to get a shot of the lava flow at night.

Best to you and yours pal.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Whether Nikon brings out a mirror less cam or whether it took them 15 years to allow some lenses to meter...are of no use to me.

Heck I learnt to expose without a meter in about 2 years. Why wait 15 years?

Anyway the Df it was that was with me...

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

I'm learning how to use my new studio lights, mix of 2 Einsteins and SB-910, FlexTT5s and Sekonic L-478DR.
I might have made the hair (feather?) light a little hot.

Focus stacked (20 exp) in Zerene. Focus stepping done with ControlMyNikon. D800, 70-200 2.8 @ 200mm, f6.7 (partial crop)

The jpg file looks sharper on my computer than off the web. I'm hosting the file so I'm not sure what happened, must be the browser messing with it.

Glen- that does look pretty sharp indeed. If I may add, I think it would be or make the shot more interesting if there was more intense light from some side than the other. I find it a bit too evenly lit. Also maybe a light behind the object that illuminates it at a 45 degree angle for a rim light around the edge.

Ricardo, I think you're right about having a little less evenness in the lighting. The way my "studio" is set up right now I'm not able to get behind the bird to position a light, but I think I need to redo my work area to a new location with rear access. Thanks for your ideas.

It's one of the coolest cities on earth to take photos. Unfortunately, the poverty and lack of maintenance are some of the reasons for the attraction.

    Me too!!

The only issue with Manila, for me, is the traffic congestion. Otherwise, a photographer's paradise.

In contrast to many, Singapore is a place that I avoid. Reminds me of my stay
In the CCIU in the hospital. To sanitary, sterilised.

As to Bohol, direct flight from Bangkok to Cebu and a fast ferry to Bohol..to see
other swarming tourists. Love Cebu..Bohol, once is enough for me.

Tell me when you plan to go, I will join you...Manila?

    Best.
