He's not doing anything special. He's just fortunate enough to live in France which is a target-rich environment!

Hey !! The year isn't finished yet. I'm going out with the D700 and the 180. Xtrem west of France seems to be between two storms and there is some sun actually. Lets put some pics before tonight

My early best wishes for people who have a ruined end of the year because of horrible weather ...

So that's what they look like now! I raced enduro karts from 1967-1979. For the most part they were all air-cooled engines.
What? No safety wire on the fuel lines?

    Hi John.

    That's a 125cc ICC international spec motor 48 hp+. A real neck bender

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

I'm very familiar with that motor. I have had 2 TM Racing dirt bikes and race 125 and 250cc GP bikes. Those motors are special, but not quite 48hp, that's optimistic, at least at the wheels, but they are nice.
As for safety wire, we never used it on our fuel lines. Fuel is gravity fed and there is no pressure to speak of, though a clip is often used. Actually, that one looks like it might have a little fuel pump, though, the pressure should be small. Though if true, then I agree with you that there should be a clamp or safety wire

    Looks like good fun,

    Joel

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

Safety wire relates to just that - safety. It is quite easy for an un-wired line to come off in a shunt or good ol' barrel roll. Fires are one thing you don't want to mess with - especially when you run methanol (which we all did)!

Sorry for the off-topic. Here's an image from several weeks ago:

    Hi.
Occasionally post in Pentax forum but found myself away over Xmas without my camera so I nabbed my other half's D800 with 24-120. Just for giggles trying to show a few basic lighting effects to our hosts who have aquired some studio lights.
Quite enjoyed using her camera, dammit
Looking at the new Nikon releases D500 & D5 with a sense of surrogate pride (I do hope she gets one of them,D500 I think)

This is bordering to OT, but it's taken with the D810/24-120mm and there's a Nikkor lens in the photo. It's my new backup camera for whenever I don't want to carry two real camera bodies plus for video.

    'heritage' - D810 / Nikkor 70-200/f4

In Maine, lobster fishing is not only a job, it's a way of life for those who hear the call of the sea. Most often handed down from father to son, (and more and more daughters) lobstering is a family business that spans generations. In this picture, the father works on his lobster boat at low tide while his young son looks for treasures below the pier. When the son gets a bit older, he'll begin his apprenticeship. Then one day, when the time is right, he'll likely take over and the whole process will begin again. I feel lucky to have been in the right place at the right time to capture this particular scene.

What a difference a year makes: Tomorrow (Jan 15) I am playing golf. It is predicted to be 51 degrees and light 10 mph winds, (we live on the southern NJ coast). This time last year the bay was frozen, and there was snow on the ground. Our hot & cold water pipes froze inside our home. Here is a picture I took this time last year. On cold, crisp winter days, airplane jet trails can be spectacular as the sun sets! Enjoy!

Stanley, no apologies re the lens are necessary. The best lens and camera are the ones you have handy. If all you had were the 810 and 70-200/2.8, that was the best kit for the job.

Years ago, when my sister graduated from law school, the keynote speaker (an appeals court judge from one of the federal districts in NY) gave the parents a word of advice, which was to "always bring a polaroid camera" to supplement the fancy camera that they usually bring. He told the parents that too many times the parents missed the shots because they were too excited and forgot to remove the lens cap.

Here is one more of Sirena smiling. I'm hoping to have her autograph several of my shots in order to auction them for a local charity. Her press person indicated that she would be willing to do this when she returns from the Austrailan Open.
