Fun using.... Photoshop CC's new content aware crop tool.....to extend a canvas cropped too tightly in camera - a hangover from film days!

    Before.....

    after.....

    Quite nifty in certain situations....

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

    Douglas, Jorgen, Swissblad, Pegelli, Hulyss...

I have asked my friend Rayyan to convey this message to you good folks. News has reached us that some people are very ill-informed on the state of photography where we live. This must be based on ignorance.

But first, let me introduce myself and my friends and family. I am the one staring at you from the right. Yes, that's me.

And here is where we live...

Bro, it gets hot..and I mean real heat, not some 40C. That is a walk in our parks. And in winters...it is cold. I mean Brr. Maybe not like in the Hague. But -20C, and we shrug it off.

So we have asked Rayyan to visit us and get some snaps. The good friend that he is, he set off to come and meet us.

He loaded up with gallons of water, and spare tires and what not. Just to come and meet us. Had 2 Nikons with him. Told us later, one of them got a heatstroke!!

Hello there Lloyd. Nice to see you here after a long time. Hope all goes well with you and family.

We cross the desert..like a part of the Empty Quarter..

And pitch our tents after a few days of driving, to watch the sunset. Rest a while. And then head home, up north-east...

Swissblad, this is a very old image ( 2006 ) shot on the D70S with the 85/1.4D, F5.0, ss 1/160, iso 200, jpg. I am attaching the original file with the exif intact.

Covered to bw with Alienskin Exposure X a few days ago. I do not remember which bw film simulation I used here..sorry.

    Warmest regards.

Nice image! Re C1, yes it is excellent on Nikon files, but honestly so can be Capture NX. For sure, C1 is my personal goto since I know it. But occasionally I run into a file that I can't seem to quite get the look I want out of it, and somehow Capture frequently delivers it -- albeit usually with a lot of experimenting to get it there though!

    Thanks a lot folks..

We arrive. Small gauge rail. We are the only passengers on it. 1600 mts.
We get off the one carriage rail-car. Where is our hotel? The is about to descend.

My wife waves goodbye to the operator. We find a hotel. But it is not ours! Ours is further down the road.

No cars allowed around here. Just delivery vehicles, horse carts, and the small gauge rail.

We start walking..staying close to each other. Cold, wet, foggy.
She has come to train on a mountain.
I don't know what I am doing here.

Man, it is cold! Drizzle starts again. I stop to take a picture. She shouts at me. I wave her on.

    Hurray, we are in Switzerland.

D700, ZF Macro-Planar 50/2. The camera is still working as of today. The lens is as new. My eyes have gone AWOL.

From a much earlier visit to Zermatt, Davos and St. Moritz..

I had the D70S with me..these are from Zermatt. The wife wanted to try parachuting, in her free time!!

Since it's Amazon he's waiting on, I am guessing new. (and I HOPE he used our link on the frontpage to order it!) Since he said "toy" it's tougher and certainly could be body or lens, or maybe even a drone? I am guessing a new body or lens and leaning toward body.

Yes it is new and yes it have a button ... it is new only if the transporter do not break it ! It is more a tool than a toy but you'll see in due times.

    Patience Grasshopper. Patience.
People have to eat, rest, visit family and friends. It all takes time.

Then there is the weather! Refueling and such like.

Patience, my good friend. Have a walk. Watch the stars for a little while longer.

    Best wishes.
