Well I've been scanning old slides from the 70's and 80's, then I did a MF film job for a neighbour, so just for you, a quick portrait with the D810:

    Back to historic racing.
Well, this one I’m very very familiar with. A Norton 750 ccm Commando engine installed rigid in the magic Norton Featherbed slimline frame. But as everybody’s sharp eye allready have noticed, it’s a 850 crankshaft housing together with 850 ccm cast iron barrels (I installed, after rebalancing the crankshaft by hand, a 850 Commando MkII engine, in an original Norton Manx wideline featherbed racing-frame…Reynolds chrome molybdenum 951 tubes..you know..by the time I as a youngster wanted to be a motorcycle mechanic, but life went in another direction – now it unfortunately just is standing still and rusty in my garage, shame on me).
The lady in the picture came in as number 7 in the last race she took part in. That’s an achievement I think!

Hate to be so boring with these Orca images, but here is one more... Awkward position of the whale - it just wouldn't cooperate for this shot.

    Mathilde Bridge
Rehearsal: the bridge on which the unfaithfully Queen Caroline Mathilde were meeting her lover Struense around 1770, before he 2 years later got his head chopped off (he also insisted in democratic changes, which wasn’t that popular in the nobility-circles, so off it goes..).
But now it is time for changing the old Oak timber construction, apart from the old oak under water which easily could go for another 100 years or more.
Rebuilding in the old fashion way.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

    Swissblad, Peter, Steen....

There is a statue of a lady. There is a plaque mounted on the pedestal on which stands the lady.

On the plaque is inscribed a sonnet, named the " New Colossus ". A very famous sonnet. A part of American History. A message of hope, of freedom, liberty and values cherished. It is a message to the world.

    It reads:

    "
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

    "

The lady's hand holds a flame. Strong winds have tried to extinguish the flame in the past. But it has shone brightly. No winds, no storms have been able to put out the flame. Whenever, and if , the flame burns out; the world shall go dark. I honestly believe that.

You see, the lady and the flame are the flames of hope for the future of our world.

Back to the " West Side Story ". For no reason except that the tunes came to me; from the past!!

    Puerto Rico's in America!

I just returned from a three week safari in east Africa. I took almost 4K photos and I've been spending the last day or so sorting through them. The animal I found most interesting were the cats, her are a few, more later.
    Comments are welcome.

I have been working on this architectural series for over eight years. I have a solo show at the San Francisco airport in November. This is one image from the show. It is a single image not a composite. Shot in Dallas TX. One of thirteen cities that I have visited for this series. Nikon 200mm-500mm lens.

    'Acadia Centennial' - D810 / Zeiss Otus 28

I just returned from two weeks at Acadia National Park here in Maine. I shot this on August 25th, which was the official 100th birthday of both the National Park Service and of Acadia. This was photographed from the Schoodic Peninsula part of the park across Frenchman Bay to Mount Desert Island...the more well known park location. For those familiar with Acadia, that's Cadillac Mountain in the distance. If any of you have never been to Acadia, you should put it on your 'must visit' list. It truly is the the jewel of the Maine coast.

    Re: Fun with Nikon Images

For over thirty years, I've been taking images of Surfers in the Fall and late summer when the surf is up due to tropical storms in the Atlantic, Today I used the Nikon D500 with my Nikon 500mm F4 with the newest iteration of the 1.4 extender. Amazingly I had a focal length of 1,000mm on a tripod due to the 1.5 crop factor of the D500. The light was excellent, so at an ISO 0f 500, the shutter speed was at 1/6400 sec...... I estimate that I was 300 yards from the subject in this full frame image!
The camera was producing 10 frames per second(sounded like a machine gun) and producing unbelievable resolution as the attached images demonstrates. Images in focus appears to be 100% and those surfers were moving quickly.
This camera is a very impressive instrument and relatively inexpensive compared to other recent offerings

I have been having trouble lately with Paterson reels getting sticky despite thorough rinsing after use and a good brushing to remove residue. So I spent last night practicing with Hewes 35 and 120 reels and the last two shots were developed entirely in metal (Hewes and Nikor tank).

    'Raven's Nest, study 1' - D810/ Zeiss Otus 28

Raven's Nest is located on the Schoodic Peninsula side of Acadia National Park in Maine. The entrance to this location isn't marked and park rangers are not eager to tell you how to get here. It's understandable. Many of the cliffs in and around this area are 30-90' tall and are sheer drops. There are no forms of protection installed. You can walk right up to the edges, and one false step would be bad news. People find their way here, of course, and unless you suffer from vertigo, I'd recommend locating this spot in the park. It's stunning.

D500 with the ever so humble 18-105 plastic fantastic zoom, family holiday single lens choice, f7.1 seems sharp enough without provoking diffraction I have found.
Still loving this new tool but that Snapbridge toy is just that, a toy.

Walled Garden Glasshouse Clumber Park Nottinghamshire UK
The central section, full length is 450ft. The house behind is that of the head gardner, now a cafe.

Cedar Avenue leading to the walled garden accessed by an iron gate not a solid one allowing colder air and moisture to move out of the garden avoiding the creation of frost pockets which could damage tender plants or reduce the growing season.

I had an opportunity to be a passenger on a friend's boat to follow and photograph a majestic sail boat referred to here in southern NJ as "A Cat" boats.
Thanks for looking. Nikon D800E and 24~70mm f2.8 VC Tamron

D500 18-105 B/W conversion I have several pre-sets that can be tweaked with minimal extra work.
Clumber Park: The lake was created by damming the River Poulter and excavating the river bed and was further enlarged and extended in 1817 and 1885 until it covered 87 acres and was almost two miles long.

When in 1938 the main Hall was demolished the garden was left untouched.
