Lloyd, thanks. Today the Saudi-American business women had a get together at the four seasons. Ayesha was there promoting her business. Very well
    received and very very encouraging.

What it turned out was that that the American ladies recongnised her from the TV and I had to print copies of her at Everest and Mt. Kilimanjaro. They wanted signed photographs. The husbands also appeared and the meeting lasted for 5 hrs!!

She and I have been invited to give an adventure speech at a lunch next week. Too much Golden Globes in their compounds, my friend.!! Now where did I keep the photos of that Mt. Mckinley adventure?

    Regards.

Yet another place I've never been, but always wanted to see. Nice shot; love the narrative. Too funny. (Although I think maybe Ayesha needs one more hood. )

Rayyan: Big +1 on all counts, but particularly on the notation in parenthesis . Best regards to "Ingrid" as well and all the best for Ayesha's new enterprise!

    re: Fun with Nikon Images

I had the equivalent of $5.00 US with me. Not much I know, but more than

    enough.

I feel generous, I told her. She became very guarded. the laughter died down.

Let's have the best lunch we have had, anywhere. I said. Generously, of course.

Took her to the shop. She ordered.

Upto 1/2 a kg of meat. Any kind. Grilled or in the pan. With onions, garlic,

green peppers and tomatoes. In two of those bread pieces you see in front.

    But fresh from the oven.

1/2 kg of meat + 2 big pieces of bread....................$2.5

    2 x 1/4 liter of buttermilk + 1 liter of bottled water.....$2

    Salad...variety of olives, tomatoes............................$0.5

$5.0; I was feeling real take charge this day.

Tannery or the Crafts?. Crafts, she said.

We walked around. Found the brass and iron workshops.

I approached. At ease. I had my lunch with me. Asked them if they wanted to

    share the lunch with us.

Bil-Afia, they said. Roughly would mean..thank you, but have it in good

health. 2 words. Expressing a lot. We sat down to lunch. She and me.

I started talking with them. They explained to us about their craft. Handed

down to them from generations. A shake there, a twist there. A skill only

master craftsmen can exhibit. They invited us to their homes. We talked

about our children. Expenses. friends talking with each other.

We had finished our lunch quite a while back.

We learnt about their craft. About them.

We were home. Home away from home.

We had spent 3 hours here.

$5.00 for lunch. The talk was priceless. the tourists would generally have

taken a snap and walked past.

A smile, a handshake, some warmth sizzled with being genuine. Works

wonders. More often than not. No speak lingo? No problem. People can sense

if you are genuine or not. Try it, the next time you get a chance.

p.s if allergic or paranoid about talking to strangers in mid-eastern countries; I am available as a guide

and other related services. Phone call on me. Tickets/lodging/food on you. I don't mind sharing rooms

    if I like you.

    Thanks Steve.

I used to have the 135/2 L a long time ago. That is one lens for which I could

easily get a Canon outfit. Just that one. Wonderful, as you show back up.

The Nikon 135/2 DC I did not find as good for me.

Agree Rayyan. The 135L, 85L 1.2 Are The Reasons I Picked Up A 5DMK2. The Nikon 135/2 DC Didn't Work For Me Either. Waiting For My D4!

I had a little accident last week, and ended up with a broken elbow. Dr. Ashwin Rao, he of the Leica thread fame, says I'll live, but my days as a concert pianist are numbered. My wife wanted to do a long trail run today, so I took her out to a local island where Ashwin and I did some shooting last spring; she ran, I shot. Here are a few from my day:

Howdy friends, time to share some more pictures on GetDPI. These are from our recent Costa Rica trip, shot with D3s & D3x, 24-70G & 24 PC-E.

Beautiful sweep of the scenic landscape in the first two Lloyd.
The last is just wonderful for its framing and that marvelous light.

Mimi is lucky to be practising in that beautiful place. I know of someone, who
too might not be able to resist that mountain!!

    Regards.
I'm grateful, my friend. And, we have a number of mountains nearby that would be very tempting and worth the trip. Anytime, we're ready!!

Terrific set, Vlad. I especially like the first and the last shots.
