Eleanor,
I would recommend the Zeiss Zf.2 21mm, it's almost a perfect FL for landscapes, and not much bigger then the 18mm. For me, the 14-24 is not even considered because of the lack of filter thread.

Poking around with the 85/1.8... nothing wrong with the rendition on this lens. Even f/2 is about as big as I'd ever conceivably want to go on a lens this focal length.

f/8 is far more reasonable...

Thanks for your input Johnny...I already have the excellent Nikon 24 1.4 prime which I could take but I'm on a roll for super wide right now and find that when I am using my 14-24 I always want to go wider....only thing on this current trip that has kept me, at times, out of the 14 range and in the 18-24mm range is the need to get my shadow out of the image!! eleanor

Beautiful images Eleanor! I am on the road, just starting a 6 week photo / camping outing and am viewing on my MacBook Pro, but the subtle colors and detail you are getting from your 14-24 are inspiring. I will be using mine a lot on this outing.

Couple more with the D800e and 14-24 handheld, Badlands, South Dakota. Eleanor
