I've ordered a d700 as an upgrade to my d300 and can't wait to get it. In the past, I had a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 for my Nikons and really liked the way it drew as well as its low weight. Am wondering if any of you is using that lens with the D3 and would recommend it or if I should just bite the bullet and buy the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8?

As a new member, I can't tell you enough how much I get from the discussion in this forum.

Thanks for all.

Depends if you want AF-S or not. If you need more speed go with the 24-70.

Hi Ed and Welcome.

I have the Tamron 28-75 and I use it all the time on the D3. I picked it up on eBay for $200 bucks and it had serious focusing problems so I sent it in to Tamron to be fixed. It came back unbelievably good for a lens at this price. It's probably now one of my favorite lenses and can hold it's own against the Nikon 24-70 at anything other than wide open.

Thanks,

Greg
