hi guys, i'm new here from melb, aust.- please be nice :D

Just got back from spending a month wondering around Egypt.. one thing though, the Nikon D3 and kit gets really heavy after a while.. wish the d700 was out before i left, i would of grabbed one.. anyhow im happy to report that the D3 can really handle the heat with no problems, like 48deg in the middle of the desert - the top of the viewfinder was so hot it hurt to touch it.. true!

want a sample? okays..

The hills on the west bank of the Nile, north of Kitchener’s island, are pock-marked with rock-hewn Tombs of the Nobles.

The ancient necropolis is lit up by spotlights at night and looks particularly magical when viewed from across the river in Aswan.

thanks, Tony.

Nice shot

I wonder if the D700 would've held up in those demanding conditions? Probably, yet the D3 is tested to twice the shutter cycles of the D700, which is a clue as which camera is the more durable.

I have both cameras ... and still like the D3 better.

Hey Marc

I think that at the rate most forum members turn over their gear the difference between 150,000 and 300,000 cycles is mute LOL
