Looking to mount an iPhone in the flash socket on D800

Has anyone found a good iPhone mount that will fit in the flash hotshoe on a D800 or D810? Using Camranger, you can send the live view video to a an iPhone, and I would like to use that in a way that gives me the iPhone mounted to the camera, thus I could use the phone as tilt screen, (much like the 750 allows). This would also allow me to have a waist level finder with live view.

I have looked around, but have not been able to find very much that is well made and not too heavy or cumbersome to have on the camera.

Thanks
Paul

Paul,

Not sure which iPhone you have, but Olloclip has a little bracket with a 1/4" screw that you can mount into a cold shoe. it's cheap and works great. You can also keep the bracket off the phone when not in use quite easily.

RRS has some much nicer stuff for the 5S, but obviously more expensive.

Looking forward to getting Camranger level quality on from MFDB guys soon:)

The problem is that current versions of iPhone holders -- like the RRS -- don't allow for the phone to be tilted.

ALPA makes an adapter to attach its VFs to a hot shoe (ALPA of Switzerland - Manufacturers of remarkable cameras - ALPA universal adapter shoe with ALPA interface), but the total cost of it along with the leaked tilting iPhone holder would be very expensive.
True, but I usually install on a tiltable cold shoe to get around this. It does increase the bulk though.

RAM mount kit plus any 1/4-20" threaded cold shoe. Use their hardware a LOT and works like a charm - adjustable, rock solid.
