I had thought a relaxing few months home to recuperate from my recent trip..
but I might have to travel again. To the USA., with my daughter. Cannot get out of it.:)
She is attending a medical conference..my wife and son-in-law look after the grand kids or I do

So I got to travel. Again.

This time around I just want to take my Df and one travel zoom.

Which one would you recommend? I shall be around the Ivy League uni area on the east coast.

Thanks.

Hi rayyan,
my tip:

24-85/3.5-5.6 VR

-small
-lightweight
-sharp
-versatile

Best.

Zoom lens? Are you sure? I don't have a clue of course, but I've heard nice things about the Sigma 24-105mm f/4 OS. It's even heavier than the Nikkor 24-120 though.

Me? I would have taken a couple of primes, like 28 + 85 or something, but maybe it's because I'm stingy and don't want to spend money on expensive zoom lenses ;)

cenek, Brad, Jorgen, Jono....

A big thank you for your suggestions.
I now have both the zooms, for trial, that were suggested.

Thanks again guys.

I have been playing with the zooms all yesterday.

The 24-85 has too much distortion.

The 24-120 plus the cam is heavier and bigger than me.
One has to look good too...never know who one meets.

I guess shall stick with 2 primes.

Thanks folks.

p.s. An option is to rent the lens in the U.S. Looking at prices for a
Week to 10 days....heck it is worth it. And no weight to carry
Except my cam and a 50mm.

depends what you plan to shoot. Mayb a 28 and 50 prime or a 35 and a 85?

Rayyan, while you are considering renting, why not try a Fuji X-T1 and 18-55 zoom? Compact, lovely, highly enjoyable.
