Nikon buys Samsung camera tech?

Nikon may have bought the great Samsung tech.

As an owner of the terrific Samsung NX1 and a former D4/D800 owner I can only say I hope this is true.

From sensors to chipsets there is a ton of tech coming from Samsung that would greatly benefit Nikon.

Someone needs to give the Sony juggernaut a run for their FF mirrorless money.

If they get rid of the Samsung NX mount (camera registry) it would be swell!

As long as this does not mean the introduction of NX mount in Nikon ecosystem and they base the new mount fully capable of whatever Nikon glass (of course via adapters) plus make it fully FF compatible, this would be absolutely great news.

Still the question remains about partnering with Samsung, an electronic giant, who might abandon any interest in this partnership from one day to the other as soon as they see other priorities in their portfolio - this is the biggest uncertainty IMHO.

Actually, this could primarily be about acquiring sensor fab. Depending on competitor Sony makes Nikon vulnerable.

Samsung internal chipset is killer as well. Also, they have 4K video experience.

No way Nikon uses the silly NX mount but I hope they use a Sony-like mount for greatest versitility. Most likely just a straight up F mount though.
