UWA on full frame

Afternoon all.

What are you guys using for UWA on the D810? I have had 2 Tamron 15-30's over the last couple of week and they are a real pig, I have been unable to find a way to use the lens at any aperture to get properly sharp images out to the corners without having to focus in multiple places and stack the shot which is a complete pain. No idea if anyone else has had these issues? I picked up an Irix 15mm yesterday and have shot with it this morning and it's much better although without the flexibility of the zoom, initial tests suggest that I can shoot at f11 and get everything sharp easily enough and shot some aurora with it last night ok, a lot of vignetting though until stopped down which isn't a major issue normally.

Anyone got any other suggestions for something around 15mm thats worth checking out?

Cheers

Actually, for the money the little Samyang 14 is pretty remarkable. Even to the extreme corners...

Thanks for the suggestions gents, the Zeiss is obviously a consideration but that price is pretty serious for a fairly specialist lens. Having tried a little more with this Irix 15 I am quite impressed and for the cost it's a steal. I will have a look at the Samyang too though as I know nothing about it.

Thanks again.

Mat: I have the Nikon 14-24 lens. Very expensive, and cannot fit filters easily, bulky and heavy, but a very good lens.

Thanks Dave, I have considered the 14-24 but was hoping for a quality cheaper option if it was possible, no doubt it's a great lens though.

I can report that having tested the Irix 15mm, it is very very good, far better than the Tamron 15-30 without the obvious flexibility of the zoom, for night work it is excellent, well worth it if anyone is looking for a UWA prime.

I have the Irix 15mm and find that the hyperfocal markings work well at the smaller apertures. The Lightroom profile for the Zeiss 15mm will remove the vignetting and correct most of the UWA distortion.
