Well I owned one and it was truly excellent; the only reason I moved to the NEX 6s was for the video capacity. I see the new GR does excellent video—I may need to get one.

I will be really disappointed of Ricoh discontinues the GXR, I must say. With the external finder's capacity to angle up to 90 degrees, this was a workhorse for me for a while on the architecture side (teamed with the CV 12/5.6).

I get it. I bought a brand new GXR today with the EVF; I am looking for an A12 28 module; I intend to shoot only square format with this, and want to post here again.

Thanks Thorkil, and everyone for the kind comments.

The sky was obliging and doing it's thing - the color version (below) didn't capture the fine complex structure (look like interference fringes?) - so I did it in monochrome using the Silver Efex "high contrast and detail" filter.

the 28mm is very good I think, and somewhat underrated, and AF is precise and quick.
    Thorkil
(consider the 24-85 module seriously, can get it rather cheap now, plus an extra GXR-house for just 35$ extra)

    To Michiel

You have this GRX and a DPM, lucky man !

Just for fun of talking, let say Ricoh comes up with a 20Mp M mount camera, do you think the DPM would still have a game to play ?

Probably yes. Even more so when a FF Foveon sensor hits the streets.
But I would welcome and buy a new Ricoh FF module with a new body with more buffer and an EVF.

Matthew, (I supose?) I like your reportage way of telling a story.

But I want to make a small point; most of your pictures look overexposed.
I don't know your workflow but try to play with the exposure sliders a little.
You can also lift up the skys a little with the brush or gradient filter.

Hope you don't mind me saying....

Don't mind at all. I looked at them on a different computer and I see what you're talking about. I tend to shoot a little to the right anyway but I might have overdone it slightly.

Looks like a monitor calibration is in order also...

    Thanks for your comments!!!!

Re: Ricoh GXR - Show your images

Some awesome new photos to view, thank you all. Too many to comment on individually.

News here is that I just received the pair of adapters that will allow me to use my pre-1940, uncoated Zeiss 40/2 and 38/2.8 lenses from the Robots on the GXR or M9. I did some quick tests with the 38/2.8 and it shows all the lovely softness of uncoated lens flare ... There's a magic to the rendering of these lenses that is quite different from modern coated lenses, the images look totally unlike what comes out of the Color Skopar 35mm f/2.5 P2.

Perhaps I'll take the GXR out for a walk tomorrow. :-)

    Nice!

You need two adapters: Robot to LTM and LTM to M-bayonet. The first is the one that's hard to find, but this is a quality piece:

    ebay: Robot M26 to LTM

Vivek posted the link in another thread, I believe. I bought a jinfinance LTM to M adapter, but I think I like the (more expensive) Voigtländer adapters more ... they are better finished and fit more smoothly.

    Here's the camera and lens:

Nice to see that others are still using and producing beautiful images with the GXR. I just bought another GXR, after selling my first one a couple of years ago. Still looking around for a VF-2 EVF if anyone has one to sell or knows where I can find one for sale please let me know.

A few recent shots with the GXR and various lenses.

Yeah, they're great cameras. How are you liking the Voigtländer 21/1.8? That's been tickling my "buy button" reflex of late.

Thanks Godfrey. The CV 21 Ultron is really nice. Very sharp across the frame with minimal distortion. I use it often on the M9 and just recently tried it on the GXR and it seems to perform quite well. A relatively large and heavy lens, but otherwise no complaints.

    Surface Textures

Thank you, Carl. Somehow, I think your testimonial for the Ultron 21 is going to cost me money... :-|

Oh well, another photo with the ancient Tessar:

    Ricoh GXR-M + Zeiss Tessar 38mm f/2.8
    (1938 RoBoT lens, uncoated)
    ISO 200 @ f/8 @ 1/500 sec

It really is a very fine lens! RoBoT pulled no punches in selecting equipment for their cameras...

    Enjoy! Comments always appreciated.

That old Tessar really does it all, from dreamy soft portraits to crisp architecture. Very nice indeed. First lens I owned on an old Praktica was a Tessar.

Fascinating out of focus rendering! Never seen anything quite like that. Can't way whether it's good or bad, just very different.

    Thank you, Michiel!
Sometimes you begin to understand that the main thing - the emotion, not the equipment... ))
