GXR 18.3 f/.5 AF Question

Not sure of the word to define what is happening. I have a GXR with the 18.3/2.5 lensor. It seems the lens always racks back and forth when AFing. Even if the camera acquires focus with a half press of the shutter button, if I half press the shutter button again, it will rack back and forth to acquire focus. Any way around this?
