Ricoh GXR - 3rd party batteries? Fast SD card?

I have just bought a Ricoh GXR with A12 M mount. Very happy with it so far!

I read that the Ricoh DB90 batteries are similar to the Fuji NP95 ones. Are there any reliable 3rd party replacements? What is your experience?

And another question… The GXR is rather slow writing to the SD card… Would this be improved using a fast card, what is the experience of GXR users?

Thanks in advance.

Yes a class 10 card does help a bit.
I have a few third party batteries for the GXR and they all work fine, in fact just as well as the original.

Bernard, I looked back and I bought them though Amazon UK, the details were:

1 of Battery for Ricoh GXR, GXR-A12, GXR-S10 1800mAh - DB-90, £11.99*

*above item(s) sold by and shipped from MDS Battery Ltd

Hope that helps.

I have tested these batteries from MDS, probably the same as yours: I confirm that they do work well with the GXR.

Concerning SD cards: SanDisk 16GB Ultra 30MB/s SD cards provide an appreciable gain in writing speed, compared to the basic Panasonic SD card I had.

I've only bought factory batteries, didn't feel they were out of line on price.

Recently acquired a couple of HP SDHC 32G cards, Class 10. These seem to be even a touch faster than my Sandisk Extremes, but not by much. They're a lot cheaper at $19 each, however.
