Thanks for that G.

I have been anxiously awaiting it.

I might even pre-order this time.

Hope it will be cool.

I've just picked up DP 1, 2 & 3 M. Now what to do with them ? :eek::ROTFL:

The DP3M or Q would be better for your gigapan.:)
Already have the DP3M Scho but thanks for the advice.

Very excited about the new lens design for the DP1Q.

That will be my primary reason for the purchase.

I'm so confident of an improvement that I likely will pre-order it.

Now I will need to sell my DP1 and 2 M's to pay for it.

P.S. I have inquired as to whether there will be a try-before-you-buy for the 1Q.

I'll let you know if I hear anything.
If only I were born rich.

With Sigma LVF-01 lcd view finder attached.

[/Q

I'd bet they ask over $200 for that contraption.

For half of that you can just buy a Hoodman and it will accomplish the same thing.

They really should offer a hot shoe mounted EVF.

That is what people really desire.

Pity they don't seem to be listening.

FYI-
the DP1Q will use the same filter size as the DP2Q.

I want to pre-order but I am still waiting on the pricing.

I'd expect it to be right around $999 US.

With the loupe mounted it starts to look like a real camera ..

Keep them. The processing may be slower but the IQ is better. ;)

Color to ISO 360 rocks.
BW to ISO 4K is superbly film-like.

Anyways... some already started complaining the new lens in the DPQ1 isn't any better than the old one.

Dp1 Quattro released~~: Sigma Camera Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
It's a wide-angle.

It will never match the lens on either the 2 or 3.

They would not have bothered redesigning it if they weren't confident it is at least better.

Only question is how much better ?

Any improvement is welcome. I wish they would just announce the price so I can order one.

FYI. From the horse's mouth.

Sigma says pricing is likely to be same as the DP2Q and will be announced 10/12.

Pre-orders can proceed once the pricing has been put out there.

Just curious.

Did anyone else step up to the plate and pre-order the DP1Q ?

Or am I the only guinea pig ?

Michael,

I wait to hear real-world experiences, then if I am still interested in a new product, I will rent before I buy. I wanted to like the Fuji XT-1, but in the end, I loved the ergonomics and layout, but the files were not to my liking. I like the loupe option on the DPQ line and that it may be a better performer than the DP1M, but I will not put $1000 into a tryout period. I anxiously await your performance results. :)

Kind regards,
Darr
