Step on the other side of that door and a history unfolds.
The history is that of a people whose ancestors can be traced back to Temuchin, born in Central Asia around 1167.
This man came to be known as Khan, the Lord/Leader, of the Mongols of the Steppes.
He adopted the title Chingiz, meaning Oceanic.
He is known in the West as Chenghis Khan.
The man who built the Taj, Shah Jahan, is descended from Zahir Udin Mohd. Babar. Babar was descended from Timur ( leung in the west ). 13th in line from Chenghis Khan.
So much for history.
The photo you see below is the palace where Shah Jahan was imprisoned
by his son Aurengzeb.
Shah Jahan would look at the Taj from these three balconies. They are now closed to the public.
Take the balcony exit on your right. Turn right for 30 meters.
That is where Shah Jahan would sit and look at his wife's tomb.
I have posted a a photo of Ayesha in that very place.
History spanning a thousand years.
