Normally I hate blurry dance photos, but these actually work -- especially the first one, in which the purple drape aligns with the direction of the lighting so it looks as if light is tangibly pouring down onto the mass of figures. Nice "get"!

Did somebody tell "healing" she'd better not hold her sign upside down in the performance? Directors go crazy when somebody pulls a stunt like that...

thanks. she did get it right at the performance this afternoon. three hundred people showed up and the class results definitely a triumph! here are a few close-in shots of the warm-up.

please remember these were shot in very weak light and meant to be a service for the dancers and teacher. almost all great dance photography is shot in the studio under controlled conditions. i've never had that luxury.

that said, for older folks it really pays to be around the young.
