"Simple" lenses for NEX

I have been looking at rather simple lens designs for the NEX sensor.

Triplets and Tessars, in particular and the size being considered as one of the major factors.

Though there are possibilities with triplets (infinity focus, full coverage), the one I have tried still pose problems with CA and flare.

Tessars are looking good.

The late version Xenagon 30/3.5 (Robot lens) appears to be a splendid performer.

The near "normal" focal length also is just great.

I bought a Robot flange from Hawk Peng (extremely solidly machined and worth every cent!) and fashioned a NEX to Robot adapter out of it.

Though the lens still sticks out a bit (to my taste), the actual optics (glass) are only about ~8mm thick with the rest of the lens housing acting as a hood.
I am thinking if I should trim off all the metal or rehouse it in a more suitable lens shell. This would also give an opportunity to replace the 4 bladed aperture to something better.

Given this, I wonder what is stopping Sony to whip up a simple normal lens (f/2.8 is adequate if it would perform as good as the Xenagon)?
