Range of HVL-F20AM as wireless controller

Is anyone using HVL-F20AM as wireless controller on A900? If you are, how far can you place your slave flash? I found that I cannot put my slave too far away (probably < 10ft), otherwise it is not firing. I would like to know if anyone has similar experience. Please note that I am using in full sun (sunny 16 condition). Thx in advance.
