    Street (images)

There isn't a thread here with this particular theme AFAIK. I thought we could have one apart from the "fun with..." threads.

Please post the images to show what you come up with your tools.

Especially like the second philber. She blends in completely realistically in with the mural behind her. Could have been an above ground shot

Great photos and idea for a thread. This is last month in Bangalore. Not my usual 'street'.

Gentlemen: These struck a chord with me.
    Vivek: Mystery and stunning B & W.
Pegelli: Perspective and dynamics of the two 'pairs' of people.
Philber: The second one for the same reasons as Pegelli
Pegelli: Perspective and dynamics of the one 'pair' (i'm also partial to "aging hippies")
Hosermage: Nice juxtaposition and look on his face.
    Pegelli: Perfect capture and caption!

    Cheers, Matt

    Re: Street (images)

It was a very foggy day today in the Hague. I used my pen F 42/1.2 and the E-Sonnar 24/1.8 (both the same size though the 42/1.2 had a metal hood!) and the NEX-7.

    A few from using the 42/1.2 (all @ f/1.2).

If you don't mind me asking this..were you outside the car and on the street?
It does give a feel of a portion of that city. Though many different facets of it are there.

I hope you had a good visit.

    I really like this thread

Matt, good shooting in Bangalore, it's not easy I know (see below). I like the neat schoolgirl in the typical Indian messy environment most.

Vivek, I think the two Moslim ladies in the alley is brilliant, it's the least sharp but for me it has the most impact. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm enjoying it and finding stuff back on my hard drive I had not processed yet but do fit here.

Hi all! I'm new here. I'm just getting back into photography for the most part, and never was much of a "street" guy but it can be fun I'm finding.

Here are some shots from last weekend with a Nex-5N and Voigtlander Nokton 50/1.1.

Vivek: My wife and i were just walking around when I took those photos. Interesting that you asked. I did, just for fun, shoot from the car window one night on the way back to the hotel. Here's a couple of those photos. We barely touched India's incredible color, diversity and contrast.

Vivek: 'India 2010 (IR)' is a tremendous set of photos! I, also liked the gritty, PJ, photo of the two Muslim women.

Nice shooting and we have to keep this thread going.

I did some more dumpster diving on my hard drive and see what I found from places where I visited on several business trips in the past:

    Shanghai:

    English queue

    Reading the news

    Hong Kong:

    Yoga

I just loved her red boots

    Singapore:

    Chinese New Year festivities

Nice contrasting shots Rafael and Pegelli.

Surely there must be something amiss here or is it a typical case of British humor , Jono ?
Admittedly, plenty of pants to be found here, but hey it's still winter after all

Completely agree with you in respect to the first part: excellent shot indeed.

Matt: Particularly like the last one you posted, nice composition and the biker leads the line of vision perfectly. Nice mood too.

Hosermage: Like Jono for me the one with the gray-haired guy waiting in front of "Victoria's Secret"(?) (nice juxtaposition that too) is a favorite of yours. Since I'm no native English speaker I mustn't get the gag with the pants, I suppose.

Pants - over here means knickers . . . Victoria's secret (unless I'm much mistaken) is an underwear store . . . . things are never quite so good when you explain them are they!

Jono: Ah, "Victoria's Secret" is the key. Realized, that it's a nice juxtaposition, just subconscious, but didn't know, what they sell. So thanks for the enlightenment!

    Hermann: Thank you, sir!

Hi Jono, thanks for liking it As I suspected, you meant it's the only photo WITHOUT pants! (translated to American English)

Vivek and Hosermage: Sorry for the mix-up, though beer is not my cup of tea.

But this one I really like, nice composition with the "excentric" couple and apt PP/B&W conversion as well.

Make amends by posting some of your own, Hermann!

Matt and Hermann: Thanks a bunch!

Matt, I like the recent London shots. To be honest, I like your M9 ones (posted over on the Leica thread) far better. From my own experience, it seems like a handling (tiny camera with very little to hold onto) issue?

Vivek: Thanks! That's a good point. I just like the Nex 7. I should have shot it with some Leica glass (like Ash) on my trip. The heavier lens does make it feel more stable.

    Here's two actual 'streets':

    Nex 7; 24mm f/1.8; 1/250s @ f/1.8; +1/3 EV; ISO 1600

    Nex 7; 18-200mm f/3.5-; 27mm; 1/20s @ f/f8; ISO 100

    Cheers, Matt

    Re: Street (images)

Evening, still a bit foggy but pleasant light in a particular neighborhood in the Hague. NEX-7 with CZJ Dokumar 35/2.8 (possibly the best lens ever for the NEX7 that I have used).

    Re: Street (images)

Matt, Vivek, pegelli: You're once again exemplifying that the NEXes take to street photography like a duck to water ...

Two from the Munich streets (and passages) in order to deliver on the promise to Vivek (also trying to warm towards LR 4):

    "Over There, No?"

    NEX-5N, 16-55/3.5-5.6 @ 22mm, f/8.0 & ISO 2000

    "Urban Stages"

    NEX-5N, 16-55/3.5-5.6 @ 22mm, f/8.0 & ISO 1600

Hope you like it and thank you for your interest.
    Best regards - Hermann
