Got a friend who shoots high end video, these days on ari and red, he told me the new stuff from Sony was what to look for. Seems he was right. Of course he's right, I know little or nothing about video, he's just started shooting TV commercials. Mind you some of the stuff he directed on 5D11 and 7D is excellent. http://www.joshcole.co.uk/#slider-5655120483288486450
He tells me your insurance goes up ten fold when you say your shooting in The Congo
Jono I think you'll like his stills especially his personal work http://www.joshcole.co.uk/#personal

If I should/would/could buy NOW a 4K camera, I would select JVC GY-HMQ10, no changeable lenses, but less weight, compact, cheeeeaaaper - less than $ 5000.

For Sony you need extra parts (and extra money) for 4K - in few years 4K sure will be "standard" and FullHD will be in museums.

For (now) "upper price class" you get 4K tvs and 4K projectors (JVC, Sony, ..) - prices soon will fall to lower level.

For 4K you need 8 Mpixels, Canon uses 18 MPixels ... I hope my NEX7 (24 Mpixels) soon gets an upgrade to 4K :D .. there exist prototypes of 16 K cameras ( 7690x4320 movie )
