Canon FD - issue or no issue?

Hi guys,

After seeing some shots taken with a 7R and a Canon FD 20mm 2.8 and I ended up ordering one (along with a 50mm 1.4 and a 135mm 2.8), but doing a little bit more research I´v bumped into a website where this guy is saying that most adapters for Canon FD to e-mount are hell to use because of a lock that it´s hard to get to work or something...it was not very fundamented but he was not happy and recommended having one FD adapter for EACH lens. Can anyone comment on this? It sounds kind of crazy.

I just turn the lock ring to open position, mount the lens in the adapter, and turn the ring to lock position. I have the Fotodiox FD to NEX adapter. No problems switching lenses.

Hi Rawfa,

The issue is with the stop down mechanism on the FD lenses.

The adapter has to be in the unlock position.

The lens is engaged in the correct location by looking at the notch in the lens mount and the adapter.

The lens is mounted and then the lock (on adapter) is moved into place and the lens will open to the largest opening and then the f stop is in manual mode to be rotated.

Sounds complicated but once you know the procedure it is automatic.
