Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

I have got a flush for that sculpture which is decorating a turnaround. It is named "et le temps passe.." because it is covered by a special painting which should change between yellow and red depending on the temperature and the season. Most of the time it is yellow, but once it had salmon/pink flecks, shaped like a dalmatian fur. The sculptor is Marie-Antoinette Gorret.

Those turnarounds are flourishing on the roads since a few decades and the different villages and communities are rivalizing to mark their space and identity. Some are decorated with flowers, others with rocks, or old agricultural tools. It is quite rare to see more contemporary art, especially in smaller villages. So this one is a nice surprise :

Thank you kindly, this is something I wanted, to have a certain look and feel to my images, a style that comes out.

Yes there is a lot of car shows in the Western United States, and we go to many of them. I am from New Mexico and we have a ton of car shows and car meets, in New Mexico cars
are a big part of the culture. I have several cars, have owned many and have always loved them, here is my Chantilly Lace, my 617rwhp Whipple blown 2011 Camaro, shot with my Sony A7s.

Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

Lucille, I spent 36 years in manufacturing management in the USA auto industry. Got to drive some real monsters at Clairepoint and saw some really amazing things at JTE in Detroit. Experienced all the growing pains in the industry over those years and glad to see the muscle cars return.

I guess I was just too close to 4 wheeled vehicle's and the headaches nvolved in developing and manufacturing them during my career which caused me to like Motocycles far more than cars and trucks. I still ride USA metal even at my age. But do truly enjoy your images of those vehicles a lot. Your images definitely have a unique look all of their own.

She is fun daddy-o, I had to have my Chantilly beat out my Sweet Maybellene, my 2006 571hp twin turbo GTO. These girls are jealous of each other, in fact I had to build a separate garage for Maybellene, she sleeps in her own 1200 sq ft garage because her and Chantilly don't get along.

Thanks Michiel, though I really was just playing around!

Your image of Gare du Nord is particularly moving and powerful, and seems suffused with uncertainty and tension. I'm sure it was a difficult moment to hold a camera, but thank you for doing so!

    Cheers,

From my window. These two past days, the moon is rising right from behind the castles. But I have a hard time adjusting exposure and WB.. I tried a HDR, but found the result of this single exposure better. To-morrow I'll try again with 100 ISO hoping to get more DR.

A7rII, Metabones smartadapter v. IV, Canon EF 70-200mm F4.0 L IS USM @ 138mm 1 sec. F8 ISO3200! (yes I goofed and forgot to reset to 100 ISO after focusing). But I was impressed by the very low and fine noise it produce. BTW : this setup produced quite a lot of flare with the moon right in front : I had to take out a purplish red blob above the moon a little on the left. I left the green and red one between the little chappel and the castle on the right.

Mmm are you trying to invite yourself in my home ?
It's often difficult to know to whom you are replying/speaking, because you neither quote the mail, nor use a call at the beginning of yours, but well it could be me here. Because yes, the view from my window is spectacular, although using a longer focal, like here can be very selective and enhance the view. Architecture here is rarely remarkable.

BTW : thank you for the like.

    Michiel,

I finally bought a 24-70 F4 canon which is amazingly sharp and well corrected.

    Thanks.

The 70-400mm is not a lens I often used. But this guy who was parasailing and doing his acrobatic stunts out in the sea proved to be a good subject. But 400mm was not long enough. I had to crop, probably the fov is around 500mm+. A7R2 w/70-400mm G.

    A7II + LAEA4 + Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro

My first son was born prematurely at 7 month old and had to spend some time in an ICU. The wife and I have spent some of our darkest hours there for 23 days, but we're happy to say that we've had DANIEL home with us for almost 2 month now and we could not be happier...since then he is actually bigger and heavier than some babies who are born 9 month old...so I definitely know what I'm going to be thankful for for in 2015

Thank you for the kind words. I like this time of year, because the blue hour comes earlier, when the lights are still on in the office buildings. That makes for a nicer picture than later.

I ought to say that the A7rII sensor gives beautiful night pictures. Plus the noise is very low : in the scene with the moon I forgot to reset the ISO after focusing and all the shots were taken at 3200 ISO, but there was only very unobstrusive fine noise. The DR however would have been better at 100 ISO. I thought no problem I'll redo the picture the day after... but since then it is very cloudy and there is no more moon in sight.

It is time for Christmas photos isn't it? An outtake from shooting our Christmas card this morning.
