Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

    Hi Guys

Just registered and decided to present myself here posting some shots from a couple of weeks ago. I'm using an A7RII and I like landscape photography, but not only, I do a lot of street and some macro too.
    Hope you like them.

Took my 24-240mm out to the park with the dog the other weekend, and came back with some fun action shots. The 'lowly' A7 autofocus did pretty decently in AF-C mode.

This shot was handheld at 5000 ISO. I will take it again soon with my PentaxZ on a tripod. I sort of like it the way it is. ( A7r I Contax N 24-85)

Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

    From my window.

During this whole year, several events took place in order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the adhesion of Valais to the Swiss Confederation. Among the festivities was a special event organized by the mountain guides : the illumination of 13 summits with Bengal fires, all at the same time, but only for 3 minutes. It was a little frustrating : you had to choose one mountain among 13 without the possibility to photograph the others.

I decided to photograph the event from my window, because one of the lighted mountain appears just behind the castle of Tourbillon. Luckily, the illumination of the left castle was down since a few days : that should have allowed the illuminated mountain to stand out better. Alas, the weather wasn't very collaborative : the air wasn't clear, but slightly misty. Add the bird distance (43km) and the result was extremely dim and deceiving, just as the picture.

Yes, the idea was cool. But many people were deceived because seen with naked eyes the lighting was quite dim and 3 minutes that is very short. In the lateral valleys the mountains being nearer, the pro photographers got better results with longer exposures than what people saw in reality.

I had planned to use two cameras : the A7r for a wider view and the E-M5II and 40-150mm for a much closer view. But for some reason I couldn't fire the E-M5II from the tablet.

You can follow that link to see more pictures of the event and different summits with better lighting (this is a Google search link, so the results may depends upon where you are located, I hope you will see the images nevertheless) : https://www.google.ch/search?q=Valai...=1920&bih=1199
