That structure sure looks like a mess.

Luckily, we didn't encounter any when we had our roof replaced.
But contractually one has to be ready in case one does.
What would have happened if we had encountered asbestos, for example around the chimney?
Well, all work would have been stopped by the roofers.
Then one would have to contract the asbestos removal with a specialist company.
Their workers protected in their "moon suits".
Once that work were finished, then the roofers could have continued theirs.
Thank you Karl, you were lucky...yes itís a complete mess as you say + Itís close to a community centre where children play which I am not very happy about!

Only too aware of the costly financial implications for its removal but nobody appears to be taking any responsibility for putting things right!!!...It was due to be demolished just over 5 years ago.

I had a close friend die from Mesothelioma due to asbestos negligence just over a year ago, so Iím a little touchy about the subject, so apologies everybody for putting up with my little rant, I will finish off with a few more images going from right to left around the building but selenium toned this time. DRAB 1-6 (A7RII+ 21mm Loxia)...Many thanks for looking...Cheers Barry

This is Tintagel Castle (Home of King Arthur)...Taken the other evening on a walk along the clifftops.
At low tide you can get onto the beach via going down the steps and enter Merlinís Cave...Itís all a bit touristy but nonetheless a beautiful area of Cornwall

Nice layering of the different elements, though the magenta cast (top left) is a bit distracting.

[QUOTE=Michiel Schierbeek;690346]Very joyfull pictures nsng! Very nice.

Thanks Michiel. Despite not having much materially, these people, especially the children appeared to be happy and healthy. I saw young children playing, swimming, diving and rowing boats. The sea is their playground. Their food comes from the sea and they sell the excess in the market to buy clothing, rice, vegetables, etc. Unfotunately, large scale commercial fishing have intruded into their fishing grounds and their catch has dropped. We brought along 300kg of rice and cooking oil to distribute to some of these people. The sea in this region is just gorgeous, clear pristine water with clear blue sky most of the time.

Beautiful work. Love the last 2 portraits, but that last one in B&W, is beautiful, haunting, and one for the ages. Huge story in her face.

Thanks Joel. I was fascinated with her face and I captured quite a number of her images. At times she looked very mature, but suddenly her expression became child-like. I have a number of images where she looked at me or at my camera, but I felt they were too static or predictable. Here are more of my photos from this trip,

From this morning. I had to pay a visit to the local administration of this village and I discovered those unexpected sculptures in front of the community hall.

Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

Two other sculptures by Prosper Zambaz (1901-1977).

I tried to find out more info about him, but didn't find much. Apparently he was the local blacksmith, doing all kind of common works, like shoeing horses, designing grates, doors and balconies. But he was a talented craftsman and was awarded for his skill at the end of his apprenticeship. I don't think that he earned much fame. I didn't even know about him. He was appreciated by the other villagers because he was very helpful, repairing all kind of stuff. His heirs have given his forge to the community, but it is a place emphasizing old stuff, with a passeist look on lost crafts. When the information appeared in the local newspaper I didn't even bother to pay a visit.. I was clearly wrong since there was more to find out than old anvils etc.. He was a modest craftsman, but apparently also had an interest in more contemporary art. The sculpture I have shown in my preceding post, that of the cube standing near two trees and a red bank, was slowly rotating on itself.

A7rm2 and Canon EOS 45mm TSE F8 1/640 ISO400 (and by the way, this was my first outing with a newly received lens. It is sharp all the way to the corners from F5.6 to F11 and even F16 is good if needed, but there is quite a lot of color aberrations in the corners).

This is a great catch.. wonderful light and composition, plus so much serenity in that shot. I liked the BW version, but think I prefer the color one with its end of day light.
That tower is quite mysterious, what is it ? seems a little small for a water tower ?

Thanks Anna! I think I prefer the color version as well, taken in early morning. The structure is actually a water tower, and identical ones are found all across that part of Kansas. Although I'm unsure about the origins of these particular towers, many similar ones were constructed by the US government during the economic depression of the 1930s. This served two purposes: it put unemployed people back to work, and it helped to combat the effects of the "Dust Bowl."

    Cheers.
