The FE 16-35 is indeed a remarkable lens. Many thanks for letting me test-drive it, Barry! This image was processed without profile corrections (haven't had a chance to upgrade to LR5.7 yet).

Continuing with the gloomy November shots. Two more taken today at Buttermilk Falls using the A7R and Samyang 24mm f/3.5 TS. Click for larger version.

Focus here was on the dead leaf about a foot to my left on top of stone wall. f/11 and 1.5 degrees tilt.

Even the weather was kind to us today
Hope to do a repeat when you are passing by this way next time or I will pick you up at Penryn.
Thanks also for letting me try out your lenses that was most kind of you
The ZM TT 85mm is a great little lens very compact and sharp. Glad you liked the 16-35mm it's a great lens for sure.
Liked all of your images especially the Foghorn and the Chevy, you have a good sharp eye my friend...Will look at my images later tomorrow.

Had a quick visit to the Notre Dame d'Amiens. Beautifull cathedral, very light inside and with a beautifull floor as well. It was a pity everybody was chased out due to un upcoming concert, so I had very little time to take some shots.

I was lazy today so just put the Sony 55 FE on the A7R for a short walk down by the waterfront. Three snaps of signs seen along the way. I haven't used this lens much recently, but I continue to be amazed by the sharpness. All shot in S mode at 1/250 sec and auto ISO.

This thread has gone all a bit quiet of late...I expect all this cold weather may be the reason why.

Thanks Barry, they have their moments. Usually I have to bribe them and they end up with dirty faces ruining the photos.

Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

A few weeks back I bought a 35 cron to use with the A7r. I am so pleased with the results that I decided to bite the bullet and complete the set of Leica lenses I used to own by purchasing a second hand Leica Elmar 50/2.8 (last version).

Except amongst the cognoscenti this is a much un-loved Leica lens so the prices are very good at present. Personally, I think it has excellent sharpness and bokeh (wide open) and should not be overlooked as a lens for any a Sony or Leica system.

Cat in the box (shot wide open at f2.8)

    Reed's Place, Kentish Town (f2.8)

At f8 I find it makes an excellent landscape lens

Here you go Louis (and anybody else who may be interested), it's not a particularly good example of the 16-35mm FE lens as all the corner details are in deep shadows...I have added the original dng, the post processed tiff and the finished jpg (as on Flickr).
    +
The downsized wall comparisons for this lens vs the WATE, that I did earlier.

I have just sold the WATE which was a great lens for sure...But this lens is much better suited to my kind of photography with the OSS...I will mostly use it between 16-28mm and keep a fast 35mm to hand...I will keep the drop box folder open for a couple of weeks before deleting..Cheers Barry

    Chill
I personally liked your image, I had already marked it as a favourite on flickr. I liked Werner's garage and calendar shot also...I saw no offence in that either. That's not to say that others might not though!...What is art to some people can be interpreted as pornographic to others it seems...The 'David' Michelangelo statue is a good example of a split decision between art and pornography, even if perhaps you and me don't think so. What was wrong of me was to stir it all up again with my jovial comment...Apologies.

To be honest, most of the vitriol form that controversy was generated by a single user, one who always seems to be in the middle of flame wars.

    A7s with the 35mm G @ f/1.4

Just repurchased this lens on a steal of a deal. Was unimpressed with resolution on the A900 but I may have had a bad copy. This one is plenty sharp in the center and that bokeh can't be beat by any of the Canon, Nikon or Sigma SLR alternatives.
