Just before Amazon took down the pre orders for a7 II, i managed to get my order in there. according to them, I should have it next Tues or Wed !
Anyone want my A99 with grip? It's up for sale now.
I ordered before they pulled it down also. have not got a email or anything yet
I am looking forward to learn about your experiences with the new a7 II, inparticular its 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE. The first review of it that I saw referenced here at the forum didn't look that hot when compared to Olympus' 5-axis IBIS. Hopefully Sony can improve their SSI's performance through firmware updates. Good luck!
With regards to In-Body-Image-Stabilization I feel Olympus set a very high performance bar, although obviously not for a FF camera.

I'm first on the list at Precision Camera so should have it next week as well. My A7 is going cheap but Sony put the pressure on with the price drop. Looks like I have a buyer though. Fingers crossed.
Guys, I really want to thank all of you for jumping on this A7II with both feet. I admire your courage, and await seeing your test results. I may sit this one out and wait for the 5 Axis stabilization on the A7S II, or whatever they call it when it comes.
I'm taking a big leap. The issue is for the PR work the A77II and that Sigma 18-35 is just so easy to shoot and the AF can do extremely well. For me its a risk but I want one set of batteries one charger and a much more bouncing between it and the A7r. I'm losing F stops too in the wide zoom. Having a 1.8 lens is pretty special. Will see, I'm still not TOTALLY convinced. But I know one thing experience on my end will get me through it. If not my next option would be the S.
Guy, you're selling the 77II for the 7II?
I don't care what gear I have.

Just ordered mine at Sony.it, expected delivery December 16.
Amazon is taking pre orders again
Looks like pre-orders are again available from Amazon.
Even better news - they are sticking with the original Dec. 9 ship date. Looks like those who pre-order will receive the camera next week. Almost (but now quite), the best news for early adopter syndrome.
Today I changed my payment added some gift cards to the account and now just waiting for the shipping data. I'll actually be in NY the day it's released. I could just walk into B&H if I wanted too also but Amazon is a far easier return system. Just in case
Anyone see the new vertical grip somewhere listed let me know
Yeah, looking for the grip too.
Looking forward to shooting with the 135/1.8 stabilized again. I took a leap of faith when I sold the A900 and it looks like Sony delivered.
Next we need that upgraded LAEA 5 or a native FE 135mm.
Upgraded LAE5 is a must so we can use all those AF points. If that was available I would use more ZA glass than FE.
I just bought the 50 1.4 ZA and it is a lot like the 85 but better wide open. If this was out I would buy back the 135 1.8 but I'm really after the old Minolta 200 2.8 high speed lens. I had that lens and it is a beauty.
I found that blog entry interesting :
REASONS WHY A7 USERS SHOULD AND SHOULDN’T UPGRADE TO THE A7II
In particular, liked the part concerning the weight increase, as I own a Canon 6D too and it is only about 160 gr heavier than the new A7II..
There is a nice table comparing the weight of 8 FF cameras.

Thanks for the link. I fall into most of the green circle yes's in the reasons why you should or shouldn't want IBIS though I have to say that the weight increase does concern me. Ok so it is the same weight as the M9 but lighter than the M240 but add the weight of the Voigtlander close focus adaptor and yo have no lightweight
The price differential (EU vs Asia) concerns me and I will not buy one just for that reason. Sony ought to be given a (however tiny) message in Euros.
These are not in the "model a month" NEX price category.
here they are offered at 300-400$ more than the A7 (100 CHF = 102$ and our prices always include an 8% VAT)
Don't forget the prices in the US are always advertized w/o sales tax while in Europe the advertised prices include VAT. So the Euro price of 1799 (which is what CameraNu in the Netherlands is offering) is equivalent to $ 1843 w/o tax. Still about 120 € more expensive on this side of the ocean, but not so dramatic in my opinion.
Pegelli, I stopped the US vs EU price comparisons. I do a Japan vs EU prices when the gear is all made in Thailand. 700 Euros is a huge difference (Asia/delivered vs Sony.nl; all net) for an A7s, for example. The outfits in Asia are selling them at a profit!
Vivek, do you know what's the price of an a7II in Asia at the moment?
Interesting that at first it went on sale in the UK at £1299, and was quickly changed to £1599. (ie just about okay to irritatingly expensive). My dealer says that he will honour the original price. We'll see!
Just this guy you know
Thanks Vivek, then you can even import economically straight from there.
With 6.8% import duty, 21% VAT and 30 € for paperwork (typical for Asia shipments) you have it here for about 1650 €.
Other option is to wait a half year, then we'll see those prices here I think (but then again Asia will have dropped also)
I have developed a system to put my own price tags for a camera/gear given the specs and how the prices decline when price fixing (by Sony outfits in the EU) is removed. This means no purchase.
With best regards, K-H.
This really is nothing new. It happens sometimes in production. Different problem but we have seen extra oil or lubricants on several bodies from different OEMs hitting the sensor. Nikon had major issues with the D600. My Leica's M8s had the same problem.
In this case send in for cleaning and describe what's going on.

Okay everyone update as we start getting orders shipped. We are getting close now. Hell I may just buy 2 of them. Lol
Also keep a eye out for the vertical grip as it is listed nowhere as of yet and some members really need one. ME
Looks like all pre-orders have been shifted two days. BH Photo now showing Dec. 11. I'm not sure if that's the ship date for new orders. It could be those that pre-ordered earlier will get the shipments a couple of days earlier.
BH does not show ship dates on their order tracking. Those who ordered from the Sony store, or even Amazon - does your order tracking specify a ship date?
I actually got to play with an A7II yesterday when my friend Paul Gero opened his early shipment. A very impressive camera, from just a first look. Feels good, better fit, finish, and overall responsive feeling vs. the earlier model. The IBIS works a treat, but the biggest impressive changes are the greatly enhanced autofocus and the XAVC-S and S-log2 for video. Absolutely worth the upgrade in my opinion!
Sony A7II: First Look at the "Duce" - The Camera Forum®
The autofocus improvement is a huge difference. I don't own an A6000, only A7R & A7S, but having used one a few times I couldn't tell much of a difference with the A7II from an A6000, it is that much better. It is far superior to either of mine. I also like the way the focus points all light up and dance around highlighting where it is focused like the A6000 does. Still doesn't autofocus like a Nikon D4, but so much better than my A7R or A7S. I was very pleased, and placed my pre-order with a 16-35mm f/4.
This is, to say the least, very welcome news!
