Anyone tried A7RII video, Late 2013 Mac Pro & 4K TV over HDMI?

Mine won't play the video without stuttering - whether it i the original file or a transcoded version, whether in FCP or Quicktime or VLC. If I just connect the camera directly via HDMI to the TV, it works fine, as does the SD card in a card reader attached directly to the TV via a USB3 card reader.

If anyone else has this combination of gear and could try it for me I'd be eternally grateful!
