    Looks good here, Kirk.

I hope you will allow yourself to recover and get better. All the best.

During my own recovery (still on going at 4 months), the RX1R ii being light and small has been such a wonderful tool.

    Take care.

Yes, take it easy. My own recovery is now four years on, sometimes it feels like no time has passed.

Here's one from my trip to India a month ago. Taken from the moving car, just cropped and straightened. The foreground is blurred as it was right next to the road and moving too fast. f5.6, 1/1500, ISO 400

Pradeep, You visit the coolest places! Just before the monsoon as well. Do you have more pics from the coffee plantations there?

No. Please be careful about using that word without giving much thought as to what that means!

Just a little while ago in the Hague.

Re: Fun with the RX-1R II

Vivek, this one clearly has a much shallower DOF than the monochrome one you posted earlier. Do you change the f-stop as you see a potential subject or simply leave it wide open all the time? Of course it also depends upon the distance to the subject I suppose.

Pradeep, Yes. Magnification factor, f stop (f/2.5 in that case), a slight motion blur (she took a hit in the middle of the road and everyone could see the effects immediately ) contribute.

This one from a difficult neighborhood (f/3.2) but sharper.

Re: Fun with the RX-1R II

It appears that the price of the Rx1r2 has recently skyrocketed.

The same sites that eagerly promote every $5 sale on any Sony item as if it is breaking world news appear to have chosen not to publicize this enormous increase.

I don't recall any increase of this magnitude on any other camera nor do I recall anything like this just being slipped by.

It was not all that long ago I left the Leica fold as I watched prices going up and up without end or apparent regard to "value". Now, I wonder if I am seeing a repeat of those corporate choices with Sony.

Of course, camera companies are not making life saving drugs or items of that sort and have the right to charge as they please. I am only one consumer and my ability to vote with my few dollars will not change anyone's bottom line.

But, I am disappointed. I think I will build a nice PC and play with some VR goggles rather than send any money towards my Sony cameras for awhile.

Of course, Sony is about to launch some VR goggles for my PlayStation 4 ...

    Responding to the Q ....

Not pretty as it was a marginal increase in pixels without much added value ... oh a bit faster AF ....

Price it till they say no ...

I posted about this increase here but that thread was doggedly stalked and derailed by an here.

I am with you on pausing any new sony purchase.

Re: Fun with the RX-1R II

I've always thought the price increase had everything to do with the shortage of sensors due to the earthquake, supply and demand.

No big bad Sony/Leica in my book anyway, both companies make really good stuff that I like to use.

    I don't think he's re-enacting – I think he's been hiding for 150 years in the hills.

The fall light here is just gorgeous.

Earlier today, I was a bit late to catch it and was a bit disappointed. But being late turned out to be a blessing.

One of the ladies even paused to pose.

Re: Fun with the RX-1R II

Autumn leaf studies: the RX1RII is really useful for these because they require a boom attachment for the tripod, which means you really need a leaf shutter (or an electronic shutter which reduces DR) and you also need a lens which is sharp to the corners.

I have an R2 to use for a while

I don't enjoy using it yet, but there is no doubt it will produce fine images
In fact, at 35mm FL, I have never seen anything better.
And first real Sony Raws I have ever seen, too.
Simply putting a distance scale on the lens, focus tab, natural throw, and the ability to start up and shut down without changing the focus....well RX1r2 would be in more bags I think with those simple tweaks. A camera you can zone, then just pick up and shoot, these are basics Mr Sony, and no AF can match them consistently. The rest is frosting
