According to lensrentals.com the GM is is in the same class as the new Nikon and Canon EF 24-70mm lenses.

What those simple charts fail to show is how really edible the Sony images are.

Tasty, tasty, tasty.

Also with IS on an A7 body.

But, no fluorine coating and priced $500 more than Canon. Really?

Sony is delivering gear we want at highjack prices.

Seriously, Nikon and Canon are just handing it all over to Sony.

It is ridiculous and I think I want the 24-70 even more than the 85.

Looks to me, betting on Sony FE was not only a great but a brilliant idea!
If all GM lenses are like that, then one would want ... :ROTFL:

When looking at the Lensrentals tests I see that the 50lpmm requirements are already very demanding on the lens. 50lpmm equals 100 lines per mm * 36mm = 3600 pixels on the sensors’ long side, therefore 2400 pixels on the short side. This gives less than 9Mpix.

Soooo, with these high pixel count cameras that we now have it looks like the lenses are by far the limiting factor and I don’t really see the benefit on 36 Mpix versus 42Mpix or 50Mpix.

What’s your idea?
